This week, Canadian style blogs put on a lesson in wearing prints. We got palm trees, swans, and even floral two ways: sophisticated and ladylike from Jen, and loud and outrageous from Niki.

Jen styled her floral print pencil skirt with a classic black boucle jacket and black patent shoes, opting for a muted colour palette. Niki, on the other hand, did the opposite; she accessorized her colourful floral blouse and shorts ensemble with equally eye-catching sunglasses and wedges. We adored both looks.

M’c Kenneth seems to have gotten the same memo Niki did. His turquoise and green palm tree print shirt, fuchsia blazer and bright white shorts combined for a perfectly-orchestrated colour explosion. Little fashionisto indeed.

Not feeling the flora? How about some fauna. Ivy paired her lovely swan print blouse with matching teal pumps and a flower-adorned box clutch for a rather whimsical summer look.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – June 8, 2012 Edition

This week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook finds ladies dressed impeccably and suitably for a spectrum of intriguing scenarios.

It seems that Marta fittingly put together her outfit as if it were a deconstructed painting for her visit to the AGO exhibition Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris. Her white top and pants are a blank canvas that she’s transformed into a masterpiece with fun prints and punches of bold colour. Am I reading too much into Marta’s ensemble? Or is she the Picasso of Canadian street style?

Standing in front of what appears to be prison doors, Vanessa imparts a don’t-mess-with-me attitude in a white varsity jacket, sports bra, and black leather shorts with mesh trim. This is by far the best interpretation of the black-and-white bee-striped prison uniform I’ve seen to date.

The crystal ball in the background of Mina’s photo makes it painfully obvious that Professor Trelawny, professor of Divination at Hogwarts, was the source of inspiration for Mina’s look. Mina certainly looks magical with her perfectly-tied headband (executed with a spell, I assume), magnificent Prada sunglasses, and orange and gold statement earrings.

S and I are very excited to announce a new Friday feature on The Backseat Stylers: The Canadian Street Style Lookbook! Each week, we’ll be scouring the ~~earth~~ internet to bring you the very best Canada has to offer in street style. Canadians have style, and we want to showcase it!

This week, Cara perfected her nautical-themed outfit with a delightful Anthropologie postcard clutch; Caillianne effortlessly pulled off white Doc Martens (also note her killer sunglasses); Janis wore a tropical printed top with palm trees and pineapples; and Aurélie and her sister Sophie win for Best Dressed Duo of the Week (a prestigious award coveted by duos the world over).
