Peroni Celebrates Vogue Italia’s 50th Anniversary With Exhibition at Holt Renfrew

Vogue Italia is celebrating its milestone 50th anniversary this year, and Peroni decided that the perfect gift would be an exhibition in the magazine’s honour, right here in Toronto.

Titled ‘Peroni Nastro Azzurro Celebrates The Visionary World of Vogue Italia’, the exhibition provides a behind-the-scenes look at the incredibly talented roster of designers, models, film actors and more who have graced its pages or contributed to them, delving into the magazine’s video archives.

The story is told in moving images as never seen before. Miles Aldridge’s hypnotic shots in saturated colours; art by Vanessa Beecroft and Marina Abramović;  models such as Mariacarla Boscono and Eva Herzigova; icons of cinema including Quentin Tarantino and Michael Fassbender; cult designers such as Manolo Blahnik and Philip Treacy. Each gives a unique insight into what makes Vogue Italia a powerful force for Italian style.

Check out the gallery below for style snaps from the launch party, which was attended by the likes of Vogue Italia contributor Grazia D’Annuncio and designer Stella Jean. The must-see exhibition is housed at the Holt Renfrew Bloor Street flagship in Toronto until October 31. It is open to the public, and is also available online at vogue.it and peroniitaly.com.

America’s Next Top Model All Stars winner Lisa D’Amato‘s Vogue Italia spread is finally out! The 30-year-old would-be model was crowned Top Model on Cycle 17 of the show last December, and has officially cashed in on one of her prizes – an editorial in Italian Vogue‘s April 2012 issue. Check out the images below, and watch behind-the-scenes footage from the photo shoot here.

And that’s not all she’s been up to since the finale aired. “I’m the face of Dream Come True, which is the first ‘ANTM’ fragrance,” said Lisa. “I shot my Italian Vogue and Beauty in Vogue, those come out in May and June … I shoot my Express campaign in May.”

Take a look at her ANTM All Stars portfolio - has she come a long way since the show wrapped? What do you think of her spread, and how does it stack up against the Vogue Italia editorials of Cycle 16 winner Brittani Kline and Cycle 15 winner Ann Ward? Share in the Comments!

Alexa Chung in Vogue Italia June 2011

Alexa Chung is featured in a 10-page editorial in Vogue Italia‘s June 2011 issue that’s at once very beautiful and very eerie. There’s no sign of that “geeky chic” sense of style we’ve come to love and she’s come to hate as a label here.

The Winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 16 is…Brittani Kline!

Last night Tyra Banks and her posse of judges, including Nigel Barker, André Leon Talley and Jay Manuel, crowned America’s Next Top Model…Brittani Kline!

Kline was named the winner of ANTM Cycle 16 over runner-up Molly O’Connell after 12 episodes of photo shoots, makeovers, runway shows, and all the drama you’d expect with 14 would-be models living under the same roof. Her prizes included a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a contract with IMG Models, the cover of Beauty In Vogue and fashion spreads in Vogue Italia and Beauty In Vogue.

ANTM Cycle 15 Winner Ann Ward in Vogue Italia March 2011

If you’re a (not so) closet ANTM fan like me, you’ve been waiting patiently since Cycle 15 wrapped up to see winner Ann Ward claim her prize of a high fashion editorial in Italian Vogue. Well, the wait is finally over, because images of the quirky and awkward model in a red Annie wig are out.

What do you think of the editorial? Will Ann fall into obscurity like her predecessors, or is she destined to work alongside Abbey, Freja and Anja?

ANTM Goes High Fashion

I’m excited to report that starting Sept. 8th, my Wednesday evenings will once again be booked for a certain little guilty pleasure of mine…America’s Next Top Model! I’ve watched every single season since Cycle 1 and I’m not about to stop now at Cycle 15 – especially now that Tyra’s revamped the show. After 14 seasons of Top Model and 14 winners who have gone on to be anything but top models, the producers are finally responding to critics with a complete reinvention of the show.

Gone are the days of a measly Seventeen cover being the grand prize. While the winner will still receive a Cover Girl contract, the Seventeen cover has now been replaced with – get this – a Vogue Italia cover and two in-book editorials. Epic, no?

To top that off, the would-be models will now be judged by Tyra, Andre Leon Talley and Nigel Barker, along with a very impressive list of guest judges, including designers Roberto Cavalli, Diane Von Furstenberg and Zac Posen; photographers Matthew Rolston, Patrick Demarchelier and Francesco Carrozzini; model Karolina Kurkova, Margherita Missoni, Kyle Hagler of IMG Models and Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani. (via Fashionologie)

If ever there was a time to give this show a shot, it would be now. Tune in on Sept. 8th to see if Tyra can finally crown a Top Model to grace the runways alongside Karlie, Abbey, Freja and the like!

Karlie Kloss Covers Vogue Italia January 2010

Ever since coming across Lanvin’s Spring 2010 ad campaign, I’ve been fascinated with shots in motion. Karlie Kloss and Steven Meisel team up for a fun cover for Vogue Italia January 2010 – the type of cover we sadly rarely see on this side of the Atlantic.
