The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – January 3, 2014 Edition

Vanessa Hong of The Haute Pursuit, Vancouver/Beijing

The first edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook of 2014 kicks the year off with a very fashionable bang. With uncomfortably frigid temperatures to battle outdoors, it’s not surprising that the story this week is all about coats.

Vanessa paired a dapper, menswear-inspired pinstripe coat with white lace-up leather pants, Liz sported a cozy fur chubby with a pop of tartan, and Christina wore a very ladylike white wool coat with black lace overlay. It may be bitterly cold outside, but that’s not going to stop our favourite Canadian bloggers from looking ultra-chic anyway.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – Best of 2013!

Started in 2012, The Canadian Street Style Lookbook really hit its stride in its first full year, and it was all thanks to the very fashionable style bloggers we featured from coast to coast. With over 400 looks served up in our weekly round-ups in 2013, one fact became abundantly clear: we’re one stylish nation. From the Pantone colour of the year emerald green to leather everything to that inescapable Zara skort, our favourite bloggers rocked all of the year’s biggest trends, but they also marched to the beat of their own style drum.

Over the last 12 months, established stars like Samantha, Caillianne and Chloe Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate and Nelia Belkova of Style Blog continued to awe and inspire us, Lookbook mainstays like Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Ivy Xu of This Is What We Do and Krystin Lee of Suburban Faux Pas took their sartorial games to the next level, and newcomers like Sasha Exeter of So Sasha and Vanessa Cesario of The Brunette Salad arrived on the scene with a fashionable bang.

With week after week of ultra-chic ensembles, selecting just 10 of our favourites was an impossible task…so we chose 20 instead. Thank you to all the ladies and gents we featured in 2013 for a year’s worth of blog fodder – we bow down to your sartorial talents. We can’t wait to show you lovely readers what Canadian style bloggers from across the country, including Lookbook regulars and new faces we’ve yet to discover, are wearing in 2014!

Alexandra Nikolajev of I’m A Little, Toronto
A fresh, preppy take on the Canadian Tuxedo, which made a triumphant return to the style scene this year. Done with gold accessories and a touch of leopard, double denim never looked better.

Alyssa Lau of The Ordinary Peoples, Edmonton
The statement coat doesn’t get much bolder than in this metallic hue, styled to perfection with neutrals by Edmonton’s fashion blogging golden girl, a Lookbook regular.

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Victoria
This Calgary native served up chic look after chic look all year. This effortless, head-to-toe black getup stole our hearts, but we could have easily included another handful of Ania’s outfits in this year-end round-up. She’s just that good.

Anik Lacasse-Richard of Montreal In Style, Montreal
Leopard print and burgundy leather are a match made in style heaven, and we’d expect nothing less from this fierce Montrealer. She never fails to impress with her non-stop stream of edgy ensembles.

The classic black-and-white colour combo was a huge trend this year, but done with a strategically placed pop of orange (and the most amazing round bob!)? A standout look.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 20, 2013 Edition

Sasha Exeter of So Sasha, Toronto

With Christmas only a few days away (OMG!), holiday dressing is in full effect on our favourite Canadian style blogs.

This week, Sasha rocked a printed emerald green frock perhaps in one last ode to 2013′s colour of the year, Ania donned an always chic head-to-toe winter white ensemble, Jill chose to celebrate in all black everything with a touch of leather, and Krystin topped off her classic LBD with an ultra-glam faux fur coat.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 13, 2013 Edition

Samantha Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, Toronto

This past week was an ode to Isabel Marant on the Canadian style blogs.

Liz and Ivy showed her H&M collaboration some love, while Samantha stepped out in a head-to-toe getup from the Paris-based designer’s eponymous line. All three looked cool as cucumbers in their perfectly layered ensembles despite the week’s frigidly cold temperatures.

We’re still obsessed with our Isabel Marant pour H&M buys. Have you been rocking yours?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 6, 2013 Edition

Dani Roche and Bianca Venerayan of Kastor & Pollux, Toronto

It’s officially December, ladies and gents, and the holiday season is in full swing. With themed shindigs on the calendar and party outfits to be styled, we look to our favourite Canadian style bloggers for some inspiration this week.

Sasha‘s “psyachadelic winter watercolours” printed dress, as she calls it, made our jaws drop, and Krystin‘s ruffled, baby pink frock is just too lovely for words. Two very different looks, but both equally stunning and perfect for two-stepping under the mistletoe.

What’s your go-to ensemble this holiday season?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – November 29, 2013 Edition

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Victoria

We’re not fans of these sub-zero temperatures we’ve been getting this week, but if there’s one silver lining it’s the opportunity to get our layer on.

Our favourite style bloggers from across Canada put in a lesson in layering this week. Ania in Victoria, Raez in Toronto and Alyssa in Edmonton all went for the black-on-black look, managing to stay warm and look impressively chic. Kudos to them for not giving into the urge to abandon their leather jackets and ankle booties just yet.

We ourselves haven’t been nearly as brave.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – November 1, 2013 Edition

Gracie Carroll of Gracie Carroll, Toronto

We spent all last month oohing and aahing over street style snaps from international fashion weeks, but you know what? We Canadians have got it going on too. Our favourite style bloggers brought their sartorial A-games to Toronto Fashion Week last week, and we’ve got all the evidence right here.

From Nelia‘s kick-ass furry-on-furry lime green coat and cobalt clutch pairing to Alexandra‘s preppy take on the classic Canadian tuxedo to Vanessa‘s fierce with a capital F ode to leather, this season’s stream of fashion week getups definitely did not disappoint.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – September 20, 2013 Edition

Caillianne and Samantha Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, Toronto

We’ve been so busy holding on to the last few days of summer that we almost forgot how much we love fall fashion. Almost. As it turns out, all it took was a few snaps of our favourite Canadian style bloggers decked out in leather to remind us, and we’re now totally on board with the new season.

It’s looking like the leather pants we lived in last fall might be in need of a makeunder though. This week, Anya and Vanessa both happened to sport fierce crop top and leather track pant getups, and now we’re dying for a pair or two as well.

Are you coveting this season’s more casual take on the leather pant too, or will you be sticking to your trusty leather leggings from last fall?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – September 13, 2013 Edition

Raez Argulla of Cheap Thrills, Winnipeg

We may have had quite the heat wave in Toronto this week, but all signs point to the arrival of a new season.

Between Ania‘s killer red leather pants, Alyssa‘s super cute plaid varsity jacket and Élodie‘s fierce biker boots, it’s obvious that fall fashion is here. Mother Nature is catching up too: those are actual fallen leaves in Raez‘s style snap. It doesn’t get any realer than that.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – September 6, 2013 Edition

Krystin Lee of Suburban Faux Pas, Toronto

Anik declared this week that she’d “gone mad for plaid”. The Montreal-based blogger sported a red plaid maxi dress as proof, and the resulting ensemble was exactly the type of grungy chic look that we’ve come to love her for.

Over in Toronto, Caillianne‘s also been obsessing over plaid. This week, she wore her favourite button-down over a glamourous mini dress just to run some errands around town with her dog Marni; it really doesn’t get much more fabulous than that.

Are you excited to break out the plaid for fall too?
