Stylin’ from the Backseat: One Plus One

I have a confession to make. See, I could tell you that I came up with the idea to pair this simple ivory silk tank top with this lovely black lace skirt, and you would all believe me. Except that it’s not true; I didn’t do it. Tara Jarmon did. The Canadian born, Paris-based designer has a knack for creating chic, feminine pieces like this combo dress, and I’ve been a big fan of her eponymous line ever since I discovered it at The White Space at the Bay.

The rest of the ensemble, I’m happy to report, was my doing. It all could have gone quite granny on me, but I balanced out the rather ladylike dress and Chanel accessories with some edge via my beloved FALLON cuff and Louboutin stripper heels. Perfect beach outfit, non? I kid, of course. I wore this ensemble to attend the wedding ceremony of a very lovely couple, E & D. One plus one, just like a combo dress.

FASHION/the Bay Contemporary Event

(BCBG lace top, J Brand pencil jeans, Chanel classic pearls, Chanel 2.55 bag, Gucci python pumps)

Last week I was too lazy to post, but hinted here and there that I’d attended the FASHION/the Bay contemporary event, where I fell in love with a Hanii Y leather jacket, fondled a Balmain military jacket, and generally had a grand ol’ time with my partner-in-crime for the evening, S (I stupidly forgot to snap a photo of us). All thanks to the lovely Jeanie (pictured with me), who so graciously invited me! (Don’t ask me why I’m smiling like a knob).

The focus of the evening was the Bay Queen Street’s The White Space, the new contemporary department where I’ve already managed to do damage. With Fall/Winter under its belt, the Bay has continued to expand its lineup of contemporary designers for Spring 2010. Of all the new lines that have happily popped up, I was most excited to see LaROK, under.ligne by DOO.RI and Opening Ceremony. This is going to be a very dangerous place for me; visitation should be supervised and limited.

I’ve already confessed to ogling two jackets that night in previous posts, so why not a third? This ADAM by Adam Lippes cropped cotton blazer fit me like a glove and it took all my willpower and S talking me down for me not to take it home. I happened to spot it in this month’s FLARE though the other day…a sign perhaps? S and I both think so!

Outside of The White Space, we also checked out the rest of the 3rd Floor. I was delighted to see RACHEL Rachel Roy and Halston Heritage, though disappointingly none of the current offerings seemed to suit my tastes.

The fashion was enough to keep us occupied, but there was also booze, candy, and models dancing on platforms to top it all off…what more could we ask for?

By the end of the night, my feet were killing me…but it was so worth it. (*Cue obligatory toe cleavage shot*)
