The weather is slowly but surely getting warmer, which means the time is ripe for showing some leg.
Donning oversized retro sunglasses, a fedora, and an embroidered jacket with leather sleeves, Lisa would fit right in at Coachella. Alyssa layered a neat black shirt with a Kenzo-esque tiger over a white skirt with sheer panels, while Vanessa paired a paneled three-quarter length skirt with a vintage bomber jacket and some seriously enviable abs.

Proclamations abound that black and white is the trend of the season. The great thing about limiting one’s sartorial choices to opposite ends of the colour spectrum is that it’s hard not to come up with a decent outfit. When paired together, black and white can be ultra chic and classic or avant-garde.
Take Alyssa, for instance. I love her look from head to toe, but it’s the bold black sock and white platform sandal combo that really stands out. Kristin looked striking this week in a floor-length, pleated black skirt paired with a fierce white motorcycle jacket.
Despite being heralded as a spring trend, black and white are a pair that won’t be going away anytime soon.

It’s been impossibly cold this week. While some of our favourite style bloggers have taken to hibernation, others have put on a brave face and stylish coat and continued to look enviably chic. Kudos to you all! We’ve chosen the hibernation route ourselves.
Aside from being in awe over everyone’s winter style blogging prowess, we’re also in love with so many of the outfit details this week. The velvet bows on Gracie‘s shoes, the spotted print of Nigel‘s shirt, and the absolute perfect shade of burgundy of Michelle‘s handbag are inspiring us to shed our parkas and head out in something fabulous.
Even if just for a minute, before we run back inside for a cup of hot cocoa.

As temperatures drop further and further down the thermometer, the wardrobe rotations of Canada’s style bloggers are getting darker and darker. Out with the colour-blocking, in with the black. But when everyone’s wearing black on black on black, a vibrant pop of colour is an uplifting sign that we may be chilled to the bone, but our sartorial spirit refuses to be dampened.
Vanessa‘s bright yellow sweater, Caillianne‘s multi-coloured tie-dye pants and Nelia‘s emerald green statement necklace brightened up their ensembles this week, and put a smile on my face too.

When it comes to accessories, have you ever thought about wearing a glove-shaped coin purse necklace around your neck? Donning a turban to protect your head from the fall chill? Or hanging a cat sweater casually over your handbag? No? Me neither. But this week’s round of personal style bloggers made just these bold choices for their accessories, and they all look amazing!
Caillianne worked a Maison Martin Margiela at H&M (launching next week on Nov. 15!) glove necklace and a vintage turban into a killer black-and-white ensemble that balanced chic on top with sporty on the bottom. The Beckerman clan can always be counted on for creative ways to accessorize.
There are tons of animal sweaters these days that are super cute and not at all kitsch (though I personally enjoy kitschy sweaters), and Alyssa shows us a fun way of wearing one – without actually wearing it. Hanging a sweater over your handbag is a genius solution because then you can have two amazing tops on you rather than just one (this would be the opposite of ‘less is more’ but would achieve the same effect – a brilliant outfit)!

It’s been a confusing sort of week on the weather front. There were hot days that warranted pretty floral shorts like Camille’s and rather cold days that called for some serious bundling up à la Alyssa.
In between, we also enjoyed a few perfectly crisp fall days. Everyone, it seems, took the opportunity to don the first fall fashions of the season: Nelia sported an eye-catching new knit, Nigel layered like a pro, and Liz took her biker jacket out for a spin.
Even yours truly have our leathers and riding boots at the ready. Bring it on fall! We’re ready for you.

This week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook isn’t as much about the chic shoes (though we’re eyeing Alyssa’s metallic smoking slippers), the fabulous accessories (of which Kira has plenty) or even the clothes (though Kristin’s pleated leather skirt is TDF). Instead, all we’re seeing, photo after photo, is gorgeous hair.
From Samantha’s freshly-dyed pink locks to Alyssa’s ombre ‘do (with a crown of flowers to boot), and from Jen’s whimsical braid to Kristin’s impressive top knot, there’s plenty of inspiration for a fun new look for the second half of summer (and fall!).
In fact, we think it might just be time to up our own hair game. S is now officially sporting some freshly-cut, blunter than blunt bangs. Now all she needs is some colour. Think Samantha would mind sharing some of her leftover pink dye with us?

This week, Canadian style blogs put on a lesson in wearing prints. We got palm trees, swans, and even floral two ways: sophisticated and ladylike from Jen, and loud and outrageous from Niki.
Jen styled her floral print pencil skirt with a classic black boucle jacket and black patent shoes, opting for a muted colour palette. Niki, on the other hand, did the opposite; she accessorized her colourful floral blouse and shorts ensemble with equally eye-catching sunglasses and wedges. We adored both looks.
M’c Kenneth seems to have gotten the same memo Niki did. His turquoise and green palm tree print shirt, fuchsia blazer and bright white shorts combined for a perfectly-orchestrated colour explosion. Little fashionisto indeed.
Not feeling the flora? How about some fauna. Ivy paired her lovely swan print blouse with matching teal pumps and a flower-adorned box clutch for a rather whimsical summer look.
4 Vancouver bloggers, 4 ways to wear prints. So, what’s the sartorial plan for next week?

I’m excited to announce that Jentine is the first person from Hamilton – where I live – to be included in The Canadian Street Style Lookbook! I live near the McMaster University campus, where the meaning of casual chic extends to wearing pajama pants in the middle of the afternoon, but Jentine is an example of the stylish Hamiltonians who focus more on the “chic” in casual chic. Her autumn-hued Marc Cain bustier crop top and thrifted Ralph Lauren cobalt skirt are a perfect pairing!
If the boys on campus dressed more like Ryan and the girls like Kelsey, I think I would be more interested in going to school. I’m completely envious of Ryan’s Ben Sherman gingham shirt and shoes, and love the vintage feel of Kelsey’s look. Her scalloped suede bottoms (Is it a skirt? A pair of shorts? Who knows!) are beautiful.
I imagine that my style will be similar to Alyssa’s look once I’ve become a successful professional in New York City, working in a contemporary art gallery and visiting my future friend Grace Coddington at the Vogue offices during my lunch breaks.
