Ever since she was crowned the winner of the Toronto Fashion Incubator New Labels 2013 competition, we’ve been waiting patiently for the big reveal of Sarah Stevenson‘s exclusive capsule collection for New Labels sponsor Target. Well, the wait is finally over and we’re delighted to find that the Toronto-based designer has created an offering that perfectly marries her romantic aesthetic with Target’s pocketbook-friendly prices.
“When I found out that I was going to be doing a line for Target, it was important for me that the Target collection be really reflective of who I am as a brand,” said Sarah. Happily for us, that means florals, florals and more florals. “I look for inspiration everywhere, but I always end up doing florals…I’ll re-interpret florals in many different ways.” And we can’t get enough of it.

Ever since we got a little sneak peek of the upcoming Peter Pilotto for Target collaboration last month, we’ve been anxious to see the rest of the collection, and today our long wait has finally come to an end: the complete collection and lookbook have been unveiled.
Design duo Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto have created a 60+ piece line-up with their signature bold, brightly-coloured prints – this time surf-inspired. Said De Vos, “The starting point was swimwear, and we were very happy that we could do it first with Target. We found it exciting to build the looks around that category. That was the idea that there are all these pieces in swimwear like rash guards and tops that you build an outfit around.”
The rash guards don’t quite make our wish list (truthfully, we had to google ‘rash guard’), but more than a few of the blouses, skirts and dresses definitely do. Maybe even a pair of sunglasses to complete the look. Pricing will be very pocketbook-friendly, ranging from $14.99 to $79.99 for apparel and swimwear and $16.99 to $39.99 for accessories.

We weren’t expecting to get a first look at Target‘s upcoming high-low collaboration with London-based label Peter Pilotto any time soon, but the discount retailer has released a single image via Elle.com, and it’s looking rather promising. Bold prints and silhouettes are key features of design duo Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto’s aesthetic, and that’s exactly what they’re serving up for Target customers.
“Even if it’s a cheaper price point, it was mutually agreed with Target that the collection had to look very Peter Pilotto,” De Vos says, and so far it does. Floral and geometric graphics are printed on tops, bottoms and even shoes. From left: Stretch-nylon swim top, $25; cotton, nylon, and spandex skirt, $35; cotton and nylon slip-on sneakers, $30 a pair; spandex-blend romper, $50; spandex-blend racer-back tank, $25; and skirt, $35.
The collection launches in stores and online on February 9, 2014, and we can’t wait to see the rest of the line-up. Are you loving what you’re seeing so far?

Peter Pilotto Spring 2012 finale
A mere day after the successful launch of its collaboration with 3.1 Phillip Lim, Target announced its next designer partnership for Spring 2014. This time, the discount department store chain is teaming up with the design duo behind London-based label Peter Pilotto.
Known for their inventive use of prints and artful silhouettes, Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos have created a collection of almost 70 items to be sold exclusively at Target stores, Target.com and, for the first time, Net-a-porter.com. The line-up of women’s clothing, accessories and swimwear is due to hit stores on February 9, 2014, and we highly suggest you mark your calendars now. February may sound like a way’s away, but we have a feeling you’ll be needing the recovery time after the recent 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target adventures.

The gallery below comes with a warning though: with over 100 items in the line-up and all priced rather reasonably from $19.99 to $299.99, there’s definitely going to be some damage to your pocketbook when this capsule hits stores. It’s inevitable. But the question is, will you be snagging a lovely cocktail dress, a set of chic pyjamas, a handbag (or two!)…or all of the above?
The collection will be available starting September 15 in most Target locations in the US and Canada as well as on target.com. Mark your calendar if you haven’t already and start culling that wish list!

It’s turning out to be quite the exciting year for high-low collaborations, and Phillip Lim for Target is definitely one to save your lunch money for. With the launch date just around the corner on September 15, we’re starting to get sneak peeks of the capsule collection here and there, and the verdict so far is two well-manicured thumbs way up.
From a Pashli-esque handbag for a very pocketbook-friendly $35 for the ladies to a $300 leather moto jacket for the gents, the Phillip Lim x Target line-up is looking very promising indeed. Check out the WSJ feature (pictured above) and the first ad campaign image (below) and start working on that wish list.

It’s turning out to be a busy year for Target on the designer collaboration front. First Prabal Gurung, then Kate Young, and now? 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Yes, you read right: the popular New York-based contemporary designer (and one of our favourites!) has created a limited edition collection of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories for the discount department store chain. “Since an early age, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of design evolution,” Lim said in a press release. “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is modern and chic, but still very accessible.”
The travel-friendly line-up will feature over 100 items priced from $19.99 to $299.99. The collection will launch on September 15, and will be available in most Target locations in the US and Canada as well as on target.com. Another week, another Target launch party attended by some very bold face names.
Last night, the likes of actresses Michelle Williams, Kate Mara and Maggie Gyllenhaal attended a bash in New York in honour of celebrity stylist Kate Young‘s design collaboration with the discount department store retailer. Each walked the red carpet in a look from the pocketbook-friendly eveningwear collection.
The offerings are looking rather cute, but that might be the Michelle Williams fan in me talking. Kate Young for Target launches online and in stores on April 14 – check out the complete lookbook here.

Target officially launched in Canada last week with the help of some very bold-face names. Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively and even mascot Bullseye the dog were on hand at the new location at Shopper’s World Danforth to celebrate the discount department store chain’s arrival north of the border.
Decked out in spring florals, SJP and Lively were joined by actress Elisha Cuthbert, Olympic gold medalist Adam van Koeverden, rapper Kardinal Offishall and media personalities like Ben Mulroney, Dan Levy and Tracy Moore on the red carpet and in the checkout line. Because who can resist a bit of pocketbook-friendly retail therapy in a Target store?

Target finally opened its first stores in Canada earlier this month, and now the discount retailer has given us another reason to cheer: their upcoming collaboration with celebrity stylist Kate Young will be available in Canada! With high profile clients like Michelle Williams, Diane Kruger and Natalie Portman, Young knows exactly what works on the red carpet, and has teamed up with Target on a line-up of evening wear and accessories for women.
The capsule collection, which hits Target stores and Target.com on April 14, will retail from $29.99 to $89.99 for apparel and $14.99 to $29.99 for jewelry and handbags (same pricing in Canada and the US!). Unfortunately, footwear will not be available in Canada, but the rest of the offerings should keep our pocketbooks plenty busy.
