The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – April 26, 2013 Edition

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Victoria

Just when we thought we had the aesthetics of our favourite Canadian style bloggers all figured out, one of them trotted out a delightfully unexpected get-up.

Ania, who regularly serves up one fierce look after another, has a penchant for dark colours and leather, and whom we’ve never seen crack a smile on her blog, blew us away this week with one of the cutest personal style posts we’ve featured to date. In it, she’s grinning from ear to ear, wearing a watermelon sweater and floral print cap, and carrying a skateboard she adorably confesses to not knowing how to ride. Cute overload? Not a chance. In fact, now that we’ve seen this side of Ania, we’re hoping she’ll come out to play more often.

How about you, dear readers – new season, fresh look?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – February 22, 2013 Edition

If, like us, you’ve been shying away from the printed pant trend, it’s probably about time you get on board. According to some of our favourite Canadian style bloggers, patterned pants are going nowhere fast.

This week, Krystin sported a teal animal print pair with just the right amount of sheen, Ivy donned a green pair that contrasted perfectly against her sunny yellow jacket, and Nelia chose a black-and-white striped pair she fondly calls her ‘Beetlejuice pants’. In fact, Nelia confesses to owning 20+ pairs of “crazy pants” – now that’s dedication.

Are you a printed pant hoarder like Nelia, or a neophyte like T and me?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – January 18, 2013 Edition

Jay Strut for Jay Strut, Toronto

In the winter months, when our outfits start to match the weather outside, a vibrant pop of color can go a long way. Especially when it’s a bright red, as seen on Anik and Jay this week.

While Anik chose a classic wool coat to top off a head-to-toe black ensemble, Jay unexpectedly paired his white tuxedo jacket with a pair of leather sweatpants. One colour, worn two very different ways. Both styled to perfection.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – November 23, 2012 Edition

Lolitta Dandoy of Fashion Is Everywhere, Montreal

When it comes to pants, the most adventurous I get is wearing the same black pair five days in a row, but this week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook is giving me major pant envy.

I love the sheen of Kristin’s Express jacquard tweed pants and think that they would be perfect for holiday parties – wouldn’t that gorgeous shade of blue go well with the colour of champagne? Caillianne’s choice of legwear involved decidedly less sheen and a lot more shine. Her dazzling Maison Martin Margiela for H&M leggings with mirror sequins are no less perfect for the holidays and would surely brighten (literally) any holiday occasion. Also looking super chic this week was Liz, who did a brilliant job styling her Isabel Marant snake print pants with neutral pieces.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – November 2, 2012 Edition

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Calgary

It’s already November but I’m still searching for that perfect fall jacket. I have had my mind set on a quilted bomber jacket – Vanessa’s is perfect! – but this week’s street style has me thinking that maybe just one fall jacket isn’t enough….

M’c kenneth took advantage of the chilly weather to layer an elegant dark green coat over a wool blazer. I myself layer my jackets as fall nears winter – usually a leather jacket underneath a fall jacket – and admire how M’c kenneth’s look has presence but isn’t bulky. Another fan of layering is Justyna, who wore a wool jacket underneath an on-trend fur collar jacket. Her lovely vintage cherry-printed dress put a smile on my face.

On those rare warmer days, a blazer can provide just the right amount of warmth. Nelia donned a sophisticated tuxedo jacket over a beautiful brocade peplum suit, while Krystin looked super cute in her polka dot blazer, striped blouse, and bowtie.
