By now you know that we here at The Backseat Stylers are (a) shoe addicts and (b) avid online shoppers, so when we heard word of a brand spanking new designer shoe online shopping destination based right here in Canada, our curiosity was piqued. And when we clicked on over to TheSeptember.com, that curiosity instantly turned into delight. The brand directory is well-curated and very impressive, featuring the likes of Valentino, Michael Kors, and Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the styles are right on the money too. Rock Studs, anyone? Yes please!
The September is the brainchild of long-time friends and shoe lovers Aynsley Wintrip Harris and Christine Carlton, who saw an opportunity in the online shopping landscape in Canada and, armed with years of luxury brand experience, decided to fill the designer shoe e-shop gap. “We are a proudly Canadian company, focused on the specific needs of Canadian online shoppers who love designer shoes,” they say, and that means no duties, free shipping and free returns. That’s music to our ears!

No one brings the kitsch quite like accessories designer Charlotte Dellal. Remember the delightful themed accessories Charlotte Olympia offered up last holiday season? She’s doing it again, this time with a capsule collection in celebration of Halloween.
WWD reports that the line-up will feature pumpkins, spiders and bats, including “glow-in-the-dark embroidered bones on black silk satin sandals, laser-cut spider webs on black suede pumps and the brand’s signature kitty flat, which depicts a more sinister-looking cat with fangs.” We knew we’d been holding off on our kitty flat purchase for a good reason, and now we know why: vampire kitty!
Priced from $545 to $1,565 for bags and $745 to $1,475 for shoes, the collection will be sold exclusively at Charlotte Olympia stores, charlotteolympia.com and netaporter.com starting on October 1. Stay tuned for images of the pieces when they become available.
When J.Crew announced a few days ago a collaboration with shoe designer Sophia Webster for Spring 2014, we did a happy dance or four. Two of our favourite things in life, being J.Crew and shoes (obviously), plus Nicholas Kirkwood’s very worthy protégé in the mix too? A recipe for heart-stopping footwear for sure we thought, and boy were we right. We got our first peek at J.Crew’s shoe offerings for spring via the retailer’s NYFW presentation yesterday, and it’s everything we dreamed it would be and then some.
Included in the 30-look line-up are 12 styles designed with Webster, infusing her most popular styles with that unmistakeable J.Crew aesthetic we all know and love. ““The collection is really fun and feminine, very me but still a hybrid of the two brands,” says Webster. Executive Creative Director Jenna Lyons added, “Sophia Webster is one of the most exciting and talented British designers. Her shoes are like miniature sets–a beautiful world for your feet to spend the day in.”
Based on what we’re seeing so far, we can’t wait to dive into the Sophia Webster for J.Crew collaboration feet first next spring. Get a closer look at the J.Crew Spring 2014 shoe line-up in the gallery below, including a peek at what should be most of the insanely gorgeous Webster designs.

With a slew of brand collaborations already announced for fall, we thought our budgets for the new season were already more than fully allotted. That is, until the latest was unveiled this week: a Hudson’s Bay Company and Converse mash-up of striped Jack Purcell sneakers. Yes. Please. These babies are destined for the iconic status of the classic HBC striped pea coats, and we definitely need to get our hands on a pair or two, stat.
Available in the unisex Jack Purcell, Duck Boot and women’s Helen styles and priced from $120-140, the Hudson’s Bay Company x Converse Jack Purcell collection will launch exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores on September 1. Will you be sporting a pair this fall?

When it comes to fun and unexpected collaborations, no one does it better than Charlotte Dellal of Charlotte Olympia. It was only a few weeks ago that we posted about her fabulous Veuve Clicquot capsule, and now the London-based accessories designer is at it again. This time, Dellal has teamed up with Archie Comics on a limited edition accessories collection inspired by the delightful comic book trio of Archie, Betty and Veronica.
The cheeky line-up includes the Betty and Veronica suede peep-toe pumps ($1,095), the Archie comic book clutch ($1,595), and a comic-printed version of Charlotte Olympia’s classic Carmen wedges ($1,295). They’re each too cute for words, but those blue suede shoes have our hearts.
The collection will be available to purchase starting November 1 exclusively at Charlotte Olympia boutiques, on charlotteolympia.com, as well as at Nordstrom.

ALDO RISE and Preen are at it again. ALDO Shoes‘ fashion week designer collaboration program teamed up for a fourth time with Preen’s Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi on the footwear shown at their Fall 2013 presentation back in February. Now, the three styles to be produced and sold by ALDO have been unveiled, and they’ve shot to the top of our fall footwear wish list.
The latest PREEN x ALDO RISE collection features three straight-from-the-runway styles: an ankle-strap pump, a triple-buckled shootie, and an ankle boot. Priced from $160 to $230, the limited edition designs come in an autumn-ready colour palette of fire engine red, classic black, and powder blue, and incorporate an eye-catching mix of materials, including leather, suede and pony hair. In short, this fourth joint effort is their best to date by our measure, and we can’t wait to snag a pair or two…or three. They’re just that good.
The PREEN x ALDO RISE collection will be available this upcoming October at select ALDO stores, as well as on aldoshoes.com. Let the countdown begin.

In last week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook, we oohed and aahed over Lily‘s whimsical heart-shaped sunglasses, but that wasn’t the only part of her ensemble that caught our eye. Her classic YSL Tribute sandals in a bright, eye-catching yellow had us – and we’re guessing you! – a little green with envy too. But why waste time coveting someone else’s fabulous footwear when you can just snag your own?
Inspired by Lily’s standout shoes, we’ve gone ahead and rounded up 15 pairs of sunny yellow pumps, sandals, wedges and ballet flats you can add to your summer rotation right now. With 15 irresistible options like ALDO‘s ‘Earlene’ ankle cuff, peep-toe stilettos (CAD$100) and Jimmy Choo‘s to-die-for neon degrade pumps (USD$750 at Saks), we wish you the best of luck in limiting yourself to just one pair.
Pass the bubbly! Our favourite footwear designer, Charlotte Dellal of Charlotte Olympia, has collaborated with one of our preferred champagne purveyors, Veuve Clicquot, on a limited edition collection of shoes and handbags.
Created in celebration of this year’s annual Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup polo tournament being held later this month, the 13-piece line-up is as covetable as you’d expect from a collaboration by these two luxury brands. From the stunning La Grand Dame champagne glass heels to the lovely pink Bouzy Pandora clutch to those adorable Kitty flats in that unmistakeable Veuve orange, each piece is as gorgeous and delightfully whimsical as the next.
Check out the complete collection, as well as campaign images, in the gallery below, and then head on over to charlotteolympia.com to purchase.
