Stylin’ from the Backseat: Mrs. Green Jeans

Fear of colour? What fear of colour? Any anxiety I used to harbour over wearing anything other than black, white and grey (with the occasional navy blue when I was feeling craaazy) has now officially dissipated. I even finally! joined the ranks of, well, everyone else and sported a pair of coloured denim last week. Whoa.

Admittedly, this sudden move was encouraged by the lovely ladies over at She Does The City, who presented me with a pair of Old Navy The Rockstar super skinny jeans and challenged me to style them. And I’m never one to back down from a challenge! So off I went with my swanky new green jeans into the most graffitied alley I could find. So how did I do?

Check out the feature over at She Does The City. They call me ‘cool’ and ‘walking art’ and other super nice things that kind of made me blush. Oh, and buy a new pair of The Rockstar jeans for yourself – they’re only $19 until October 3!

Oh No I Didn’t

The younger Backseat Styler and I have noticed a peculiar trend. One apparently cannot wear the Fall 2009 Chloé Ashton lace-up wedge boots without pairing them with a fur-collared jacket of some sort. It’s true – the evidence is all here.

Having no fur-trimmed jacket of my own with which to wear my Chloés, it was only a matter of time before I nabbed one. I mean, who am I to question those Chloé Ashton wearers that have come before me? I initially thought I’d found The One with the Banana Republic leather bomber I bought a few weeks ago, but it’s now going back; I found it was missing a little bit of edge. Late last week when second markdowns hit at Barneys, I scored what I’d reeeally been coveting this Fall – the 3.1 Phillip Lim leather flying jacket. Wooohooooo! The fact that the jacket was still around at second markdowns in my size, just waiting for me to come along and take it home, is a freakin’ holiday miracle. Between this and my Manolo Blahnik oxford pump miracle, I think I’ve used all mine up for the year. Good thing there’s only a few days left till a new year!

So thanks to a certain very amazing and wonderful sales associate named Nick (Old Saint Nick, perhaps??) at Barneys who went above and beyond to secure me this jacket, I now have the aviator jacket I coveted all Fall, which will go perfectly with the Chloé wedge boots I also coveted all Fall. A storybook ending to my Fall 2009.
