I’ve been coveting these Miu Miu gingham taffeta pumps and their cute bows ever since I saw Clémence Poésy wear them in her Glamour UK editorial back in January. Yes, they evoke thoughts of tablecloths and picnics. Yes, they’re slingbacks, which I loathe. But they’re also a lovely combination of ladylike and whimsical, and very versatile too, I suspect. My Spring wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a pair.
They’re available at Net-a-porter, Saks, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus in blue, fuchsia and green, and retail for $595. Now which colour shall I choose?

Kirsten Dunst showed up to a dinner in honour of Rodarte at the Chateau Marmont last week in head-to-toe canary yellow. The Melancholia actress paired a Stella McCartney Resort 2012 blazer with metallic jacquard pants from Rodarte’s Spring 2012 collection. She accessorized with a black clutch, Jimmy Choo sandals and even more yellow, dangling from her ears.
A tad on the bright side? Not at all. Kirsten took a risk with this ensemble, and I absolutely adore it. It’s vibrant, joyful and incredibly chic. A ray of sartorial sunshine, if I may.

I was half-watching the People’s Choice Awards last night when a familiar looking dress made me do a double-take. I gasped, rewound, and screamed (so loudly that the Mister was alarmed) when I realized that Elisha Cuthbert was indeed wearing a gown from VAWK‘s stunning Resort 2012 collection.
“When it came to selecting my look for the People’s Choice Awards, I looked at a few of the VAWK pieces and fell in love with the gold detailing on this dress,” the actress said in a press release. “I knew I wanted to wear it.” And I don’t blame her. The last time I saw this dress was backstage of VAWK’s Spring 2012 runway show at Toronto Fashion Week, where it quite literally took my breath away.
Seeing the gown again on my television screen, on such a big stage no less, was a proud moment. Congrats to VAWK’s Creative Director Sunny Fong! And kudos to Elisha for what will hopefully be the start of more Canadian fashion on international red carpets.

Blake Lively has been landing on all sorts of Best Dressed lists the last 2 years. I don’t always agree with the sartorial praise she gets, but I absolutely adore what she wore at a recent Sprinkles Cupcakes charity event.
The Gossip Girl actress’ white silk blouse and pleated gold skirt from Gucci’s Resort 2012 collection are incredibly festive, but in a very chic sort of way. No cheesy reindeer sweaters for Miss Lively! She finishes the ensemble off with Brian Atwood Maniac pumps – you can never go wrong with those. In fact, I plan to look just as fabulous while doing my own holiday baking.
Right.

I’ve been lamenting the Glee cast’s desperate need for stylists ever since they started hitting red carpets, and it seems my wish may have been granted. That, or they’ve finally grown out of the cheesy prom-ready dresses they’ve been assaulting awards shows with over the last two years.
Stars Lea Michele and Dianna Agron each stepped out this week looking more chic than I’ve ever seen them, the former in a black and gold lace number from Pucci‘s Resort 2012 collection and the latter in that Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011 dress. They’re not all the way there yet, but Lea’s jazz hands and Dianna’s poor shoe choice aside, it looks like the Glee kids are growing up sartorially, right before our eyes.
What do you think of their latest looks – do they deserve gold stars?

Stylist and Chanel ambassador Caroline Sieber is one of my street style favourites, but my posts on her style aren’t always well received – mostly on account of the look-of-bemusement-slash-scowl that she’s perfected for the cameras. But not this time. This New York Fashion Week, she was caught on camera – gasp – smiling! This rare on-camera display of joy was the perfect accessory for her lovely lace and tweed ensemble from Jason Wu‘s Resort 2012 collection (lookbook photo below).
That little smile on Sieber’s face made the outfit – not the floppy hat, not even the gorgeous court shoes. A few posts ago, the styling tip of the day was that it’s all in the details. Today we learn that a smile can be the most important detail of all…as incredibly cheesy as that sounds. So turn those frowns upside-down, ladies and gents!**

** We now return to our regular levels of cheese.
