The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – April 18, 2014 Edition

Jill Lansky of The August Diaries, Vancouver

Spring has sprung in our favourite Canadian style bloggers’ wardrobes. Flowers have begun blooming (in some parts of the country), and likewise greenery is making appearances in bloggers’ sartorial odes to the arrival of spring.

This week, Ania paired a foliage print collared shirt with white trousers for a cool, mensy vibe, Marie sported rose print cropped pants in the perfect transitional look, and Ivy donned a cute palm tree print sweatshirt for a visit to see the cherry blossoms that have already bloomed in Vancouver.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – April 4, 2014 Edition

Kassandra Camponi of Kastles, Edmonton

If you get a feeling of déjà vu with this week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook, you’re bang on. A few standout pieces that have made appearances recently are featured again, styled in a fresh new way.

Case #1: Joe Fresh‘s trompe l’oeil shirt. We first spotted it on Barbara, who knocked it out of the park with a head-to-toe black and white ensemble. This week, Lookbook newcomer Vickie paired the same shirt with a bright red perforated leather jacket for the perfect pop of colour. One shirt, worn two fantastic ways.

Case #2: Ann Taylor‘s TDF cage pencil skirt. It first showed up in the Lookbook on Christina, who got us lusting after the skirt when she expertly paired it with a black moto jacket and baby pink pumps. This week, Nelia made us want it even more with an equally fierce black, white and red getup, one of our favourite colour combos ever. Again, one skirt, worn two uber-cool ways.

Déjà vu? Why not when it looks this good.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – February 28, 2014 Edition

Alex of Alex’s Closet, Montreal

The skirt is making a comeback, and it – in all its different forms – made an appearance on Canadian style blogs across the country this week.

Nelia went ladylike with her snake-print midi skirt and polka dot top, Lookbook newcomer Alex looked ultra-cool in a plaid pencil skirt and moto jacket combo, and Jen combined the best of both worlds with a floral-print A-line skirt and biker jacket of her own.

Have you been braving the polar vortex in your favourite skirt too?

The Backseat Stylers in eLUXE’s Spring 2014 Lookbook

By now we’ve come to terms with the fact that we’re not Daria Werbowy or Liu Wen and, at 5’3.5 and 5’1 respectively, we never will be. So when invitations to take part in photo shoots land in our inbox, like the one that arrived recently from eLUXE, we’re all over the chance to play model for a day.

That’s how S, alongside other top Toronto fashion bloggers like Nelia Belkova of Style Blog and Gracie Carroll of the self-titled blog, found herself starring in eLUXE’s Spring 2014 lookbook. With all of the Toronto-based e-retailer’s latest offerings to choose from, it’s no surprise an uber-chic black jumpsuit by Tibi (now on sale!) was S’s top pick. Get beautified by the geniuses at Aveda Canada, throw on some neon printed Nicholas Kirkwood pumps and some arm party favourites from Fallon, Jenny Bird and Lei Van Kash, and S was ready for her Top Model moment.

Huge thanks to eLUXE and Aveda – the shoot was a blast! Check out the complete lookbook below and shop the looks over at eLUXE.

Spotted from the Backseat: J.Crew Collection’s Toronto Store Launch

Afiya Francisco

Confession: we’re totally obsessed with J.Crew, especially all things J.Crew Collection. So when an invite arrived for the opening of the very first Collection store in Canada, on Bloor Street in Toronto no less, we were stoked. The promise of a Ms. Jenna Lyons in attendance too? We were officially beside ourselves.

Sadly, though we donned our Collection best for the occasion, our date with J.Crew’s creative director was not to be. Stuck in New York thanks to an epic snowstorm, Ms. Lyons sent a few looks fresh off the Fall 2014 runway in her place. Those, plus some good old Canadian-themed photo booth fun and almost 6,500 square feet of the statement necklaces and No. 2 pencil skirts we love so much, did a fantastic job of making up for our style icon’s absence.

Check out the gallery below for style snaps of Toronto’s fashion set in their favourite J.Crew duds. Nowhere near the new store? We’ll race you over to jcrew.com.
