Alexa Chung in Moschino
Fashion industry insiders and fans around the world celebrated the fourth edition of Fashion’s Night Out on September 6, and a few of our favourite celebrities joined in on the sartorial fun. In New York, Alexa Chung donned Moschino to host and DJ the brand’s FNO festivities, while Jennifer Hudson attended QVC’s event in whimsical Charlotte Olympia pumps and a little red dress from her line for the television shopping network.
On the other side of the pond, Cheryl Cole chose a lace and velvet peplum number for a FNO date with Giuseppe Zanotti, and actress Amber Anderson wore a white Jonathan Saunders frock to the Mulberry bash. Miranda Kerr took part in FNO festivities too, sporting a printed Erdem dress to a party for her skincare line in Australia. All around the globe, fashion was indeed enjoying a fabulous night out.

Michelle Williams in custom H&M Conscious Collection
The 2012 Orange British Academy Film Awards, a.k.a. the BAFTA Awards, were held today in London. Although the red carpet wasn’t covered by television media on this side of the pond, the fashions were not to be missed. Favourites like Michelle Williams and Tilda Swinton brought their sartorial A games to the evening’s festivities.
Michelle wore custom H&M Conscious Collection with an Olympia Le-Tan book clutch, while Tilda donned a beautiful cap-sleeved Armani gown. There were some very pleasant surprises too: Christina Ricci in a stunning gold Givenchy wrap dress, English television presenter Fearne Cotton in a lovely, bow-embellished Moschino number, and Jessica Chastain in a gorgeous metallic Oscar de la Renta dress.
What did you think of the looks on the BAFTA Awards red carpet?

It’s National Sweater Day! Today is the day we remind ourselves to throw on our sweaters, turn down our thermostats by a few degrees and join the fight against climate change.
We at The Backseat Stylers are doing our part by layering, keeping our room at much lower than balmy temperatures, and, of course, putting together this post of six of our favourite sweaters this season. What better way to support such a worthy cause than to go out and buy yourself some lovely new knitwear? Happy National Sweater Day!
