Alexa Chung in Moschino
Fashion industry insiders and fans around the world celebrated the fourth edition of Fashion’s Night Out on September 6, and a few of our favourite celebrities joined in on the sartorial fun. In New York, Alexa Chung donned Moschino to host and DJ the brand’s FNO festivities, while Jennifer Hudson attended QVC’s event in whimsical Charlotte Olympia pumps and a little red dress from her line for the television shopping network.
On the other side of the pond, Cheryl Cole chose a lace and velvet peplum number for a FNO date with Giuseppe Zanotti, and actress Amber Anderson wore a white Jonathan Saunders frock to the Mulberry bash. Miranda Kerr took part in FNO festivities too, sporting a printed Erdem dress to a party for her skincare line in Australia. All around the globe, fashion was indeed enjoying a fabulous night out.

Miranda Kerr in Marchesa at 2011 Met Ball
WWD reports that Marchesa has signed a deal to launch a lower-priced line, news that will give fans of the brand’s red carpet gowns reason to celebrate. The new line, which has yet to be named, will feature daywear and accessories ranging in price from $150 to $750. The first collection is expected to launch around pre-fall 2013.
“It’s going to be under the Marchesa umbrella, but with a slightly different feel,” said Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman. “We have been so specific for such a long time, and the idea [is] to broaden out to a different consumer, and to our same consumer as well. We haven’t really looked at that market yet. My dream is to give Marchesa many facets, and that’s just one of them.”
How will Chapman’s often over-the-top design aesthetic for Marchesa translate into a contemporary line? I’m intrigued to find out.

Miranda Kerr stepped out with 7-month old baby Flynn this past week in Sydney, Australia in a printed red floral maxi dress, looking every bit the part of a fabulous new mom. It wasn’t too long ago that I was a new mom, too, but I certainly don’t recall ever looking quite this good.
Although letting your young son use what looks to be a dry clean only dress as a burp cloth may be a tad impractical for most, sometimes that’s just what a new mom needs to stay sane – a moment or two to be fabulously impractical. Kudos to Kerr for refusing to succumb to the allure of the mom jeans. She looked lovely!

Style.com
Style.com gave Tommy Ton a rather enviable assignment: we’ll get you backstage access at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show if you take photos of gorgeous VS Angels for us – deal? Seems unlikely he, or any male on the planet, would turn that one down. I’m trying as much as possible to avoid any runway shots so I can preserve my sense of wonder and awe for the airing of the show on December 1st, but I couldn’t resist posting my favourites from Tommy Ton’s backstage shots. Only at the VS Fashion Show can you see feathers, spikes and balloons all on the same stage – love the fantasy and indulgence of it all! See the rest of the shots here.

Ready to set my PVR for the airing of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on CBS on December 1st, 2009. So many things to look forward to – Alessandra Ambrosio opening the show, the Black Eyed Peas performing, Heidi Klum strutting her stuff 5 weeks after giving birth, Liu Wen hitting the runway as the first Asian model to do so since 2003…
The theme of the show is said to be Magical Journeys. Can’t wait to embark!

Every year, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show signals the beginning of the holiday season for me and I’m finding that this year it has sneakily snuck up on me. I’m ready for turkey and candy canes and Christmas presents, but not the cold, the snow and the slush. Nevertheless, ready or not, that time of year is here and the VS Fashion Show is being taped this week. I can tell already that this year’s show is going to be amazing because my favourite Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio, is opening the show. Style.com had some sneak peeks of Alessandra’s and Miranda Kerr’s fittings earlier this week – just a little taste of what’s to come when the show airs early December.
