Chloë Moretz in McQ Fall 2012
I’ve been a longtime fan of McQ, and now that Alexander McQueen‘s creative director Sarah Burton has taken over the creative reins, the diffusion line has become even more covetable than ever before. Burton’s first collection for McQ is for Fall 2012, but 12 must-have pieces are already available for pre-order exclusively at Net-a-porter starting today – check out the gallery below.
I’m dying to get my hands on the broderie anglaise velvet bell dress and Black Watch plaid coat, but with the two pieces alone ringing up at an astounding $13,315, sadly it will never be. It seems that not only does Burton bring with her the unmistakable Alexander McQueen aesthetic, but also price tags that are significantly heftier than McQ fans have been paying until now.
McQ has now moved out of my snack bracket, unfortunately, and I’m rather devastated. If the price points of $765 to $12,030 don’t faze you though, go ahead and place your pre-order over here so I can live vicariously through you, please and thank you.

I wanted this McQ Alexander McQueen coat sooo badly. I featured it back in November (remember?) when I first discovered it at The White Space at the Bay, and proceeded to visit it many, many times before finally taking the plunge.
It’s one of my favourite pieces right now, and it’s all because of that tail. It serves no real functional purpose, but with it I could be a magician, or marching band member. Or perhaps a girl on her way to a Mackage fashion show. Who knows?

It’s that time of year again, when the temperatures drop, the time falls back, and outerwear addicts like me start to get that itch to buy a new coat. Given the shameful fact that I’ve managed to build up quite the jacket collection over the last few years, any potential new additions I’m tempted by are hard to justify, even by a shopaholic like me. Even so, every year, without fail, a coat will steal my heart and refuse to give it back until I bring it home. This Fall, it’s this adjustable wool-blend coat by McQ.
With detachable tail and sleeves, this inventive piece can be worn 4 different ways: as a modern take on Willy Wonka’s coat of choice, as a cropped jacket or long vest over a tuxedo-inspired ensemble, or as a smart-looking vest for the office. This 4-in-1 coat may not be a bargain at $780, but it’s definitely on my wish list come sale season, which is right around the corner. It shall be mine!
Available on Net-a-porter for $780 and at The White Space at The Bay for $860.

McQ cardigan / Forever 21 tank top / 3.1 Phillip Lim leather jacket / J Brand cargos / Chloé wedge booties / Make Up For Ever make-up
I’m chained to a desk Monday to Friday, so I’m used to living in dress pants, with some respite on the weekends via my jeans. Over the last 6 months or so, since I ramped up the personal style posts, I’ve become a bit more creative. Still no booty shorts for me, but I’ve happily added patterned leggings, frilly skirts and comfy but chic jumpers to the wardrobe. One of my best discoveries, though, has been these J Brand Houlihan skinny cargos. They’re a great alternative to jeans and leggings, can be dressed up or down, and fit like a glove. Oh, and I got them on fantastic sale from Revolve!
This whole ensemble, in fact, is like a greatest hits album of my shopping triumphs over the last few years. From the leather jacket via Barneys to the studded cardigan via the White Space at the Bay to the wedge boots via Saks, all were purchased on significant sale after much patience on my part. Knowing I got a fantastic deal always makes me enjoy wearing a piece that much more. So there you have it – I’m a self-confessed sale-aholic who shows no signs of imminent recovery! Any other addicts out there?
