The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – July 25, 2014 Edition

Canadian style bloggers were out and about and looking fabulous this week.

Hawley and Sonya travelled south of the border, the former perfecting her festival look for Pitchfork in Chicago with a print-on-print ensemble that impressed the likes of Teen Vogue, and the latter taking to the streets of New York in a lovely tiered cami dress and TDF Chanel Boy bag.

Here at home, Alanna went for a stroll in the countryside in a minty fresh crochet lace matched set, and Jen prepped for a day at the races at the upcoming Deighton Cup with an ultra-chic jumpsuit and pearl-embellished fascinator.

Ain’t summer grand?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – July 18, 2014 Edition

Alanna Durkovich of Xander Vintage, Vancouver

It’s a print story this week on the Canadian style blogs, and we’re loving it.

From Alanna‘s gorgeous floral maxi dress in Vancouver to Krystin‘s pretty-in-pink look in Toronto to Katia‘s retro print-on-print action in Montreal, our nation’s most stylish put on a lesson in rocking bold, vibrant prints.

Will you be following their lead?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – May 30, 2014 Edition

Assa Cisse of My Curves and Curls, Toronto

Nothing says spring like a bevy of floral print outfits, which is exactly what Canadian bloggers across the country served up this week.

Montreal’s Gabrielle rocked a floral bomber for a sporty vibe, Calgary’s Ania donned a lovely floral A-line skirt on her Asia trip, Vancouver’s Lydia edged up a summery frock with a denim moto jacket, and Lookbook newcomer Liat wore floral-on-floral for the ultimate in floral ensembles.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – May 9, 2014 Edition

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Calgary

Just when we were ready to declare that spring has really, truly, finally arrived and it’s safe to store the boots and parkas away, Ania in Calgary posts personal style snaps with falling snow as her backdrop. Definitely makes for some stunning photos.

Truthfully, though, we prefer to admire the snow from afar. And from the looks of the sunshine-filled shots from Nelia in Toronto, Mo in Halifax, and Laura in Ottawa this week, so do they. Enjoy the spring weather this weekend!

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – May 2, 2014 Edition

Stephanie Sterjovski of Stephanie Sterjovski, Toronto

The Backseat Stylers wardrobe has evolved quite a bit over the past several years: we went from a consistently black/white/grey/navy colour palette of solids to a rather colourful one embracing prints. But through this transformation we’ve continued to turn up our noses at one colour family: the pastel.

Look like a bag of Easter eggs? No thanks! Or so we thought, until we spotted Stephanie in a girly yellow midi and peach pump pairing, Justine in an ultra cool baby blue leather moto, and Krystin in a ladylike pale green eyelet pencil skirt and floral jacket – all in the same week and all making a very strong case for pastels.

So are pastels the new black? We wouldn’t go quite that far, but we’re certainly re-evaluating our stance on that part of the colour wheel. Are you on board with pastels this spring?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – January 17, 2014 Edition

Liz Clark of Elizabeth Victoria Clark, Toronto

This week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook has us daydreaming. Not of shoes, bags and other of life’s greatest sartorial delights, but of sunnier, balmier surroundings. Style snaps of Liz and Cara sporting chic, summery frocks while on vacation in Florida and Florence respectively have us feeling just a tad envious. But do you blame us, really?

We have no trips planned for the near future, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still wear the cute dresses too. Under our parkas. So there’s that at least.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – Best of 2013!

Started in 2012, The Canadian Street Style Lookbook really hit its stride in its first full year, and it was all thanks to the very fashionable style bloggers we featured from coast to coast. With over 400 looks served up in our weekly round-ups in 2013, one fact became abundantly clear: we’re one stylish nation. From the Pantone colour of the year emerald green to leather everything to that inescapable Zara skort, our favourite bloggers rocked all of the year’s biggest trends, but they also marched to the beat of their own style drum.

Over the last 12 months, established stars like Samantha, Caillianne and Chloe Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate and Nelia Belkova of Style Blog continued to awe and inspire us, Lookbook mainstays like Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Ivy Xu of This Is What We Do and Krystin Lee of Suburban Faux Pas took their sartorial games to the next level, and newcomers like Sasha Exeter of So Sasha and Vanessa Cesario of The Brunette Salad arrived on the scene with a fashionable bang.

With week after week of ultra-chic ensembles, selecting just 10 of our favourites was an impossible task…so we chose 20 instead. Thank you to all the ladies and gents we featured in 2013 for a year’s worth of blog fodder – we bow down to your sartorial talents. We can’t wait to show you lovely readers what Canadian style bloggers from across the country, including Lookbook regulars and new faces we’ve yet to discover, are wearing in 2014!

Alexandra Nikolajev of I’m A Little, Toronto
A fresh, preppy take on the Canadian Tuxedo, which made a triumphant return to the style scene this year. Done with gold accessories and a touch of leopard, double denim never looked better.

Alyssa Lau of The Ordinary Peoples, Edmonton
The statement coat doesn’t get much bolder than in this metallic hue, styled to perfection with neutrals by Edmonton’s fashion blogging golden girl, a Lookbook regular.

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Victoria
This Calgary native served up chic look after chic look all year. This effortless, head-to-toe black getup stole our hearts, but we could have easily included another handful of Ania’s outfits in this year-end round-up. She’s just that good.

Anik Lacasse-Richard of Montreal In Style, Montreal
Leopard print and burgundy leather are a match made in style heaven, and we’d expect nothing less from this fierce Montrealer. She never fails to impress with her non-stop stream of edgy ensembles.

Anonymous by Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Calgary
The classic black-and-white colour combo was a huge trend this year, but done with a strategically placed pop of orange (and the most amazing round bob!)? A standout look.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 13, 2013 Edition

Samantha Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, Toronto

This past week was an ode to Isabel Marant on the Canadian style blogs.

Liz and Ivy showed her H&M collaboration some love, while Samantha stepped out in a head-to-toe getup from the Paris-based designer’s eponymous line. All three looked cool as cucumbers in their perfectly layered ensembles despite the week’s frigidly cold temperatures.

We’re still obsessed with our Isabel Marant pour H&M buys. Have you been rocking yours?
