Shop Like A Style Blogger: 15 Quirky Clutches to Add Some Whimsy to Your Bag Rotation

Bianca and Dani of Kastor & Pollux rocked the loveliest ALDO perfume bottle clutches (only $35!) in last week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook, and we adored their whimsical ensembles. An immediate need for an uber cute statement bag obviously arose, so we took to the internets for our weekly, err daily, online shopping session.

From Falconwright‘s bubble gum pink eye-print leather clutch ($68) to Kate Spade‘s ‘Paris and the Single Girl’ book clutch (USD$328) to the queen of whimsy Charlotte Olympia‘s ‘Dial’ telephone perspex clutch (USD$1,895), we found 15 super chic and totally adorable bags we – and you! – need in your life. Check out the gallery below – which one (or two or three!) are you coveting along with us?

The love affair between Canadian style bloggers and faux fur continues. Last week, it was Stephanie in stripes. This week, we’ve got Vanessa and Liz, one in the most perfect shade of green and the other in a winter white shearling. Both looking incredibly chic (and warm!). We’re officially obsessed.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – January 17, 2014 Edition

Liz Clark of Elizabeth Victoria Clark, Toronto

This week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook has us daydreaming. Not of shoes, bags and other of life’s greatest sartorial delights, but of sunnier, balmier surroundings. Style snaps of Liz and Cara sporting chic, summery frocks while on vacation in Florida and Florence respectively have us feeling just a tad envious. But do you blame us, really?

We have no trips planned for the near future, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still wear the cute dresses too. Under our parkas. So there’s that at least.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – Best of 2013!

Started in 2012, The Canadian Street Style Lookbook really hit its stride in its first full year, and it was all thanks to the very fashionable style bloggers we featured from coast to coast. With over 400 looks served up in our weekly round-ups in 2013, one fact became abundantly clear: we’re one stylish nation. From the Pantone colour of the year emerald green to leather everything to that inescapable Zara skort, our favourite bloggers rocked all of the year’s biggest trends, but they also marched to the beat of their own style drum.

Over the last 12 months, established stars like Samantha, Caillianne and Chloe Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate and Nelia Belkova of Style Blog continued to awe and inspire us, Lookbook mainstays like Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Ivy Xu of This Is What We Do and Krystin Lee of Suburban Faux Pas took their sartorial games to the next level, and newcomers like Sasha Exeter of So Sasha and Vanessa Cesario of The Brunette Salad arrived on the scene with a fashionable bang.

With week after week of ultra-chic ensembles, selecting just 10 of our favourites was an impossible task…so we chose 20 instead. Thank you to all the ladies and gents we featured in 2013 for a year’s worth of blog fodder – we bow down to your sartorial talents. We can’t wait to show you lovely readers what Canadian style bloggers from across the country, including Lookbook regulars and new faces we’ve yet to discover, are wearing in 2014!

Alexandra Nikolajev of I’m A Little, Toronto
A fresh, preppy take on the Canadian Tuxedo, which made a triumphant return to the style scene this year. Done with gold accessories and a touch of leopard, double denim never looked better.

Alyssa Lau of The Ordinary Peoples, Edmonton
The statement coat doesn’t get much bolder than in this metallic hue, styled to perfection with neutrals by Edmonton’s fashion blogging golden girl, a Lookbook regular.

Ania Boniecka of Ania.B, Victoria
This Calgary native served up chic look after chic look all year. This effortless, head-to-toe black getup stole our hearts, but we could have easily included another handful of Ania’s outfits in this year-end round-up. She’s just that good.

Anik Lacasse-Richard of Montreal In Style, Montreal
Leopard print and burgundy leather are a match made in style heaven, and we’d expect nothing less from this fierce Montrealer. She never fails to impress with her non-stop stream of edgy ensembles.

The classic black-and-white colour combo was a huge trend this year, but done with a strategically placed pop of orange (and the most amazing round bob!)? A standout look.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 13, 2013 Edition

Samantha Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, Toronto

This past week was an ode to Isabel Marant on the Canadian style blogs.

Liz and Ivy showed her H&M collaboration some love, while Samantha stepped out in a head-to-toe getup from the Paris-based designer’s eponymous line. All three looked cool as cucumbers in their perfectly layered ensembles despite the week’s frigidly cold temperatures.

We’re still obsessed with our Isabel Marant pour H&M buys. Have you been rocking yours?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – December 6, 2013 Edition

Dani Roche and Bianca Venerayan of Kastor & Pollux, Toronto

It’s officially December, ladies and gents, and the holiday season is in full swing. With themed shindigs on the calendar and party outfits to be styled, we look to our favourite Canadian style bloggers for some inspiration this week.

Sasha‘s “psyachadelic winter watercolours” printed dress, as she calls it, made our jaws drop, and Krystin‘s ruffled, baby pink frock is just too lovely for words. Two very different looks, but both equally stunning and perfect for two-stepping under the mistletoe.

What’s your go-to ensemble this holiday season?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – November 8, 2013 Edition

Jen Tam of Her Waise Choice, Vancouver

This week was all about the sweaters on Canadian style blogs, and it looks like everyone got the memo.

From Jen‘s chic camel sweater coat in Vancouver and Gabrielle‘s lightweight checked pullover in Montreal to Caillianne‘s asymmetrical knit over in Paris and Vanessa’s oversized reptilian sweatshirt over in Beijing, our favourite bloggers rocked their sweaters across our fair nation and even represented abroad.

Sweater season is definitely on. Are you embracing its arrival?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – October 25, 2013 Edition

Vanessa Cesario of The Brunette Salad, Toronto

Hats are the new black, ladies and gents. And while we at The Backseat Stylers fully appreciate the ability of a great hat to kick the cool factor of a hat-less ensemble up a few notches, we’re also sadly aware that we’re not hat people ourselves. T rarely rocks anything more than a basic knit beanie in the winter or ball cap in the summer, and S has just been told flat out that she can’t rock hats (by multiple people on multiple occasions…sad face).

We’re living vicariously through our fellow Canadian bloggers as they traverse through the fall season in super chic headgear. This week, Bianca rocked a trendy leather baseball cap, Dani sported a cute embellished toque, and Ania, Vanessa and Anik donned a range of black brimmed hats that took their outfits to a whole other level. These ladies are definitely hat people.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – October 18, 2013 Edition

Bianca Venerayan of Kastor & Pollux, Toronto

We just declared our love for the almighty ankle bootie a few days ago, and it seems we aren’t the only ones who feel this way. Many of our favourite Canadian bloggers were rocking their ankle booties this week, and we’re itching to join them.

Sasha sported a gorgeous bordeaux pair with her leather moto jacket and animal print skirt, Kate wore a chic black suede pair with her super cute gingham shirt and fox sweater combo (what does the fox say?), and Anik donned a fierce buckled pair with her cozy wool coat and covet-worthy perforated leather skirt.

Dying for a pair too? In case you missed it, check out our round-up of this fall’s 20 must-have ankle booties.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – September 27, 2013 Edition

Justine Iaboni of Whatever Eurotrash, Toronto

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target has officially taken over the style blogs, ladies and gents. It’s been almost 2 weeks since launch day, and we’ve been thoroughly enjoying the non-stop parade of Lim x Target looks. Each blogger has been making the pieces their own, putting their individual style stamps on the collection.

This week, Stephanie and Lookbook newcomer Assa both sported leopard-print designs from the wildly popular collab. Stephanie paired her A-line skirt with a striped tee and sparkly statement necklace, while Assa styled her dress with a timeless white blazer and classic tote. Both looked ultra-chic, and fully recovered from their shopping adventures.
