The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – April 5, 2013 Edition

Caillianne Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, Toronto

Head to toe coordination is always risky business – the results can either be a stroke of sartorial genius or a complete, tacky flop. This week, Canadian style bloggers really committed, and took their looks to the next level.

Caillianne had us seeing red: from her herringbone coat to her tie-dye jeans to her printed tote – not to mention those signature scarlet lips – the lady in red never looked so fierce. Neither did her dog, Cubby.

Kassandra‘s outfit this week was an ode to floral denim. She upped the chic factor of her printed jeans and matching button-down with a fitted navy blazer and gold accessories. Kudos on a styling job well done.

Too much of a good thing? Never. Especially when there’s a patterned Canadian tuxedo involved.

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – July 27, 2012 Edition

Vanessa Hong of The Haute Pursuit, Vancouver/Beijing

At the last signs of winter, I packed away my fur, leather and wool. And then slowly but surely, the leather pieces came back out of hibernation, even as the temperatures soared. On days like this one, I was sweltering in my little leather shorts, but I didn’t mind. All for the love of leather, right?

Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels that way. Vanessa donned a head-to-toe black leather get-up that literally rocked my world this week. Her perforated peplum top was simply divine, and her pants fit like a glove. The accessories, a Chanel bag and Alexander Wang shoes, were right on point. She looked as ridiculously hot as she probably felt wearing the ensemble in balmy summer weather…pun intended.

Despite the fact that there was no leather involved, Kassandra’s denim shirt and floral pants combo also knocked my socks off this week. Her necklace was perfectly placed, and her smile (the very best kind of accessory) simply brilliant. They’re contagious, I hear, and I find myself grinning right back at my laptop screen.

I propose we start a revolution: more smiling and less thoughtful gazes into the distance (I know, I’m guilty too!) in personal style posts from now on. Who’s in?

The Canadian Street Style Lookbook – June 8, 2012 Edition

Marta Tryshak of With Love Gabrielle, Toronto

This week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook finds ladies dressed impeccably and suitably for a spectrum of intriguing scenarios.

It seems that Marta fittingly put together her outfit as if it were a deconstructed painting for her visit to the AGO exhibition Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris. Her white top and pants are a blank canvas that she’s transformed into a masterpiece with fun prints and punches of bold colour. Am I reading too much into Marta’s ensemble? Or is she the Picasso of Canadian street style?

Standing in front of what appears to be prison doors, Vanessa imparts a don’t-mess-with-me attitude in a white varsity jacket, sports bra, and black leather shorts with mesh trim. This is by far the best interpretation of the black-and-white bee-striped prison uniform I’ve seen to date.

The crystal ball in the background of Mina’s photo makes it painfully obvious that Professor Trelawny, professor of Divination at Hogwarts, was the source of inspiration for Mina’s look. Mina certainly looks magical with her perfectly-tied headband (executed with a spell, I assume), magnificent Prada sunglasses, and orange and gold statement earrings.
