Kirsten Dunst showed up to a dinner in honour of Rodarte at the Chateau Marmont last week in head-to-toe canary yellow. The Melancholia actress paired a Stella McCartney Resort 2012 blazer with metallic jacquard pants from Rodarte’s Spring 2012 collection. She accessorized with a black clutch, Jimmy Choo sandals and even more yellow, dangling from her ears.
A tad on the bright side? Not at all. Kirsten took a risk with this ensemble, and I absolutely adore it. It’s vibrant, joyful and incredibly chic. A ray of sartorial sunshine, if I may.

Back in January, it was announced that Jimmy Choo and Ugg Australia were teaming up to design and produce a capsule collection of Ugg boots with Jimmy Choo flair. Last month we got a sneak peek of what was in store via a tweet from Nicky Hilton and the revelation was a little less than awe-inspiring. Now, finally, images of the rest of the collection are up for scrutiny thanks to Bergdorf Goodman, where the boots are available for pre-order. Priced from $595 to $795, orders are expected to ship no later than October 28, 2010.

I was all over the Jimmy Choo x Hunter rain boot collaboration, but I’m going to be sitting this one out. Uggs tricked out with studs, animal prints and fringe are definitely not my thing. The question is, are they yours?

Back in January it was announced that Jimmy Choo would be collaborating with Ugg Australia to produce a limited edition 5-piece collection for Fall 2010. I was intrigued but skeptical at the time, but now that I’ve seen a photo of one of the five pairs (via Nicky Hilton’s twitter), I’m much more skeptical and much, much less intrigued.
Although Uggs are tied with Crocs at the top of my list of least attractive footwear, I can understand their appeal; they’re comfy, warm and practically part of the Canadian winter weather uniform, so I can turn a blind eye to how visually unappealing they are. But a pair of Uggs tricked out with metal star studs? *shudder* Forever the optimist, I have my fingers crossed that Nicky picked the worst of the bunch.

by The Backseat Stylers | July 27th, 2010 …isn’t gold. Or rather, silver, in this case.
Jimmy Choo and Hunter are at it again with the newest incarnation of their croc-stamped rain boot collaboration. This time, instead of the fierce black version that I lived in last Fall or the punchy red or yellow editions that were also released, Tamara Mellon and her counterparts at Hunter have decided on a blinding metallic silver. I shudder at the tackiness of it all. Silver rain boots are fun and croc-print rain boots are fun, but silver and croc-stamped rain boots are proof that you can have too much of a good thing.
If you’re certain you can rock these babies, though, check them out at Net-a-porter, where they retail for $455.

Just when I thought I’d finally managed to escape the allure of the extremely comfortable yet thoroughly unsexy Ugg boots, they ingeniously collaborate with Jimmy Choo on a limited edition five-piece collection to be released this upcoming October. Given the success of the Choo collaborations with H&M and Hunter last year, the Ugg x Jimmy Choo collection should be just as highly sought after, despite the significantly higher prices ($595-795). I must admit that I’m intrigued; good thing I have the next 8-9 months to remind myself I do not need another pair of boots, limited edition or not.

by The Backseat Stylers | December 28th, 2009 Merry belated Christmas and Happy belated Boxing Day! Hope everyone’s holiday celebrations were filled with lots of great company, yummy food and holiday cheer, because mine sure were. And shoes! Because I’m still me after all.
My very first act at 12:01 am on Christmas Day, after wishing Mr. Backseat Styler and Baby Backseat Styler a very Merry Christmas, was to check out the Boxing Day sale on Saks.com. With sale items up to 70% off, there was little time to think and lots of competition for the very limited stock. I managed to snag myself a pair of Elizabeth and James lace pumps I’d been eyeing at 65% off. They’re a bit on the high side with their 4.5″ heels and no platforms, but I couldn’t resist the rouched lace and button details. Or the price. They’ll be perfect for fancy sit-down activities that I drive to…no walking in these, that’s for sure.

I made an unexpected purchase as well. I need another pair of ankle boots just about as much as I need another Christmas cookie at this point, but I just couldn’t let the opportunity to pick up a classic at 65% off pass me by. These Jimmy Choo Daisy kidskin brown ankle boots will be perfect for work next fall. Plus, I was able to justify them because all my existing ankle boots are black. And I don’t mix black and brown…yes, I’m weird like that.
Aaaanywho, it seems I was mostly done my Boxing Day shopping before Boxing Day had even begun (though I did still venture out into the madness on the day of). Santa must’ve had a word with Saks on my behalf. He sure was great to me this year! Hope he was to you as well.

by The Backseat Stylers | November 26th, 2009 I’ve been anxiously waiting for it to rain the past few weeks so I could debut my new Hunter & Jimmy Choo croc-embossed rainboots. It fiiiinally did today, which initially dampened my spirits because plans for an Anthropologie visit had to be cancelled, until I remembered that I now have the perfect pair of boots with which to jump in puddles and track mud everywhere, so at least a short adventure in the rain was necessary. Our first outing together was delightful – the boots were so comfortable and it’s so freeing to be able to walk anywhere you want, wet or not. I really felt like skipping, but showed a bit of uncharacteristic restraint. We’re going to be great friends, my new wellies and I.
I have no photos of the momentous occasion, so instead I will post a photo of Rachel Bilson and her Hunter X Jimmy Choos, which is close enough anyway since I would be played by Rachel if there was ever a Backseat Stylers movie. So here you go:

Style.com is reporting that the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection will be restocked at three NYC stores on the morning of November 19th. If you missed the insanity this past weekend, are brave enough to join the crowds and lucky enough to live in NYC, hit up one of the following locations tomorrow morning: 34th and Seventh, Herald Square, and 51st and Fifth. What’s that – you have to go to work? There’s no worthier reason for playing hooky…is that a bit of a cold you feel coming on?

by The Backseat Stylers | October 31st, 2009 Tamara Mellon is indeed a busy woman of late – more so than usual, it seems. Not only has she been hard at work on the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection that we’re all anxiously awaiting the launch of on November 14th, but she’s also been donating her time to a very worthy cause – that being the Project PEP collection by Jimmy Choo in support of the Elton John Aids Foundation and specifically the Simelela Rape Centre in Cape Town. The 11-piece collection, featured on Vogue UK, will be carried in Jimmy Choo stores worldwide starting November 2nd and ranges from £45 for a cellphone charm to £575 for a pair of very fierce sandals. Jimmy Choo will be donating 25% of the net sales of the collection, which already has a waitlist of over 1,000 at last count in the UK alone, to the Elton John Aids Foundation. Mellon described the collection as “punk-rock inspired with a collage of the Jimmy Choo DNA – there are studs and Swarovski”. These are my picks from the collection:

For those of us not near a Choo boutique, some of these pieces are bound to end up on eBay, though most certainly at a premium that sadly won’t be going to charity.

UPDATE:
by The Backseat Stylers | October 21st, 2009

As we count down the days to when the Jimmy Choo for H&M capsule collection hits the stores on November 14th, WWD teases us further with pics from the ad campaign. This collection is looking hotter and hotter to me as more photos are released. And while I realize the quality will be H&M level rather than Jimmy Choo, here’s hoping it’s reasonable given the price point…though really the collection will sell out in minutes regardless.
