Last week’s edition of the Street Style Lookbook included some killer black and white outfits, and this week Ania and Melissa continued the trend.
We also saw some bold floral prints that are a little different from what we’re used to seeing. Resembling a digitally produced collage, the multi-layered floral print on Lily’s peplum top captivates with its intense colours. Samantha’s printed blouse combines two not often paired colours – pink and lime green – for a funky look with a fun ‘60s vibe. Lisa, opting for a more subdued look at Paris Fashion Week, had her printed blazer provide a punch of colour to her casual chic ensemble.

Who knew black leather could be so versatile?
This week, Libby – accompanied by the equally well-dressed Kate – looked super chic for a friend’s birthday in a black dress (or skirt?) with a perfectly fitted leather top. Vanessa, who it seems is never not wearing leather, paired her leather pants with an eye-catching flame-print shirt, while Liz braved the cold in a cute skirt.
Finally, one cannot speak of black leather without mentioning biker jackets. Ania wore hers over a minimalist black and white ensemble, providing a nice contrast to the pretty pastels on Lily.

Not even a little snowstorm can slow our favourite Canadian style bloggers down. This week, it was all about the winter whites. Ania paired a lovely ivory dress with tough Doc Marten boots, while Liz sported a cozy-looking oatmeal sweater with jeans and an oversized plaid scarf in the colour of the season, oxblood.
The duo from Kastor & Pollux, Dani and Bianca, donned matching bright white and animal print ensembles for NYFW, which begs a very important question: why do we at The Backseat Stylers never match our outfits? Definitely something to think about.

It’s been impossibly cold this week. While some of our favourite style bloggers have taken to hibernation, others have put on a brave face and stylish coat and continued to look enviably chic. Kudos to you all! We’ve chosen the hibernation route ourselves.
Aside from being in awe over everyone’s winter style blogging prowess, we’re also in love with so many of the outfit details this week. The velvet bows on Gracie‘s shoes, the spotted print of Nigel‘s shirt, and the absolute perfect shade of burgundy of Michelle‘s handbag are inspiring us to shed our parkas and head out in something fabulous.
Even if just for a minute, before we run back inside for a cup of hot cocoa.

The winter is always marked by a sartorial sea of black, but just because you give in to wearing the darkest of shades – to match your feelings toward the bitter cold, no doubt – doesn’t mean that you can’t still stand out in the monochromatic crowd.
Looking super chic in a black leather dress with square printed panels, Samantha opted for some intriguing surreal accessories, like a Maison Martin Margiela for H&M hair necklace and bag featuring a glove as the bag strap. From the same collaboration came Elizabeth’s cozy oversized turtleneck, which she wore with an incredible pair of perfectly-fitted over-the-knee boots. I was overcome with envy when I saw Jay’s leather quilted bomber, which I would wear in a heartbeat if it came in my size (I hope Santa is reading this). I’ve been a bit obsessed with quilted jackets recently, and Jay’s is definitely one of the best I’ve seen.

Canadian winters are worth enduring for one reason and one reason alone: boots! (And possibly layering opportunities.) This week, our favourite style bloggers showed off some fabulous cold weather footwear.
Jay’s Diesel black lace-up boots are too good to be true, and were made for his delightfully oversized camo jacket. While the mixing of black and brown normally makes me shudder, Anik’s two-tone stacked heels are definitely an exception to the rule. I’m also digging the gently scuffed look of the boots, which I’m thinking was either achieved during a holiday shopping excursion at an impossibly crowded mall or at a rodeo. Caillianne’s Balenciaga shoes aren’t exactly boots, but they’re not not boots, either. They simply defy categorization, and that in itself is something worth appreciating.

When it comes to pants, the most adventurous I get is wearing the same black pair five days in a row, but this week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook is giving me major pant envy.
I love the sheen of Kristin’s Express jacquard tweed pants and think that they would be perfect for holiday parties – wouldn’t that gorgeous shade of blue go well with the colour of champagne? Caillianne’s choice of legwear involved decidedly less sheen and a lot more shine. Her dazzling Maison Martin Margiela for H&M leggings with mirror sequins are no less perfect for the holidays and would surely brighten (literally) any holiday occasion. Also looking super chic this week was Liz, who did a brilliant job styling her Isabel Marant snake print pants with neutral pieces.

When it comes to accessories, have you ever thought about wearing a glove-shaped coin purse necklace around your neck? Donning a turban to protect your head from the fall chill? Or hanging a cat sweater casually over your handbag? No? Me neither. But this week’s round of personal style bloggers made just these bold choices for their accessories, and they all look amazing!
Caillianne worked a Maison Martin Margiela at H&M (launching next week on Nov. 15!) glove necklace and a vintage turban into a killer black-and-white ensemble that balanced chic on top with sporty on the bottom. The Beckerman clan can always be counted on for creative ways to accessorize.
There are tons of animal sweaters these days that are super cute and not at all kitsch (though I personally enjoy kitschy sweaters), and Alyssa shows us a fun way of wearing one – without actually wearing it. Hanging a sweater over your handbag is a genius solution because then you can have two amazing tops on you rather than just one (this would be the opposite of ‘less is more’ but would achieve the same effect – a brilliant outfit)!

It’s been a confusing sort of week on the weather front. There were hot days that warranted pretty floral shorts like Camille’s and rather cold days that called for some serious bundling up à la Alyssa.
In between, we also enjoyed a few perfectly crisp fall days. Everyone, it seems, took the opportunity to don the first fall fashions of the season: Nelia sported an eye-catching new knit, Nigel layered like a pro, and Liz took her biker jacket out for a spin.
Even yours truly have our leathers and riding boots at the ready. Bring it on fall! We’re ready for you.

As kids, this Civic Holiday weekend marked the halfway point of summer vacation. Back then, we’d start counting down the days until the first day of school (yup, we were those kinds of kids!); nowadays, we’re counting down towards our favourite season for dressing, fall. But as our brains start looking forward to trench coats, knits and riding boots, our hearts are still very much with summer, and so are our outfits.
We’re not the only ones. From Cara’s girly pink frock to Marie’s floral confection, from Nelia’s sleeveless spotted top to Liz’s pajama-inspired shorts, Canada’s style bloggers are taking full advantage of the balmy August temperatures and looking quite chic while they do it. And then there’s Jay, in head-to-toe black and leather pants. A man after our own hearts.
Whether you’ll be sporting the shortest of shorts or the fiercest of leathers, we hope you have a lovely long weekend, dear Canadian readers!
