Admiring from the Backseat: Oscars 2013 Edition

Naomi Watts in Armani Privé

After an epic 3.5 hour Academy Awards ceremony tonight and red carpet coverage that was almost as long, the 2013 awards season has sadly come to an end. With stunning silver screen stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain stepping out in incredible gowns by the likes of Armani Privé, Dior Haute Couture  and Oscar de la Renta, however, this year’s awards season definitely went out with a sartorial bang.

Our favourite leading ladies certainly saved their best frocks for last, with most topping their looks at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. From Kerry Washington in pink Miu Miu to Stacy Keibler in metallic Naeem Khan, these are our top 10 best dressed from the 2013 Oscars. Who made your list?

Admiring from the Backseat: Charlize Theron in Stella McCartney

Just yesterday we posted Charlize Theron‘s cover and editorial in the May 2012 issue of Vogue UK, and today we’ve got more of Charlize. Too much? Never. The actress looked absolutely stunning in a minimalist blue dress at the Paris premiere of her new movie, Prometheus, last night. Naturally, we had to share.

Charlize styled her damask print dress, from Stella McCartney‘s Fall 2012 collection, with classic black suede booties by Christian Louboutin, clean make-up and a simple ponytail. Oh, and legs for days. Now where do I get a pair of those?

Glossies

Charlize Theron in Vogue UK May 2012

Charlize Theron looks gorgeous on the cover and inside Vogue UK‘s May 2012 issue. We haven’t seen as much of her over the last few years, but she’s coming back with a vengeance, quite literally, as the Evil Queen in the upcoming movie Snow White and the Huntsman. Evil or not, she looks just as stunning in the film’s trailer too.

Admiring from the Backseat: Golden Globes 2012 Edition

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012

Awards season is officially underway, as the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards took over the television airwaves and Twitterverse last night. I dutifully watched every minute of pre-show red carpet coverage just so I could bring you this here post. And though I’d like to say that it was incredibly hard work on my part and that it was very tough to narrow the list down to only a handful of looks, the truth is that these 5 actresses and their stunning gowns were standouts that made my job easy.

Rooney Mara was one of the most highly anticipated red carpet arrivals of the evening, and she certainly didn’t disappoint in a chic black Nina Ricci dress. The always flawless Julianne Moore also chose a black gown, by Chanel Haute Couture no less. Her green tassel earrings by Fred Leighton complemented her scarlet hair perfectly.

That wasn’t the only burst of colour. Charlize Theron looked pretty in Dior pink, Emma Stone wore custom eggplant Lanvin, and Tilda Swinton marched to the beat of her own sartorial drum in sky blue Haider Ackermann. Each actress brought her very own brand of glam to the Golden Globes, making for one very fabulous red carpet.
