Emma Stone in Valentino Fall 2014 Couture
While TIFF is officially in full swing here in Toronto, over in Italy the Venice Film Festival wrapped up over the weekend. It seemed quieter than usual on the red carpets over the course of the 11-day festival, but there were still some definite sartorial highlights.
Emma Stone was red carpet perfection on opening night in a green tulle gown from Valentino’s latest couture collection, hands down our favourite look of the festival. Ashley Greene in gorgeous black Antonio Berardi gown, Constance Jablonski in a lovely floral-embroidered Alberta Ferretti number rounded out our top 3 best dressed.
Will the TIFF red carpet be able to top Venice? We’ll dutifully report back next week!

Claire Danes in Givenchy Fall 2014
The Emmys always manage to sneak up on us, and this year was no different. It was about 3 minutes into Seth Meyers’ monologue when we happened upon the live broadcast. Needless to say, we’d missed the 7.5-hour red carpet special we assume preceded the actual awards show, but thanks to the interweb were able to catch right up on all the red carpet happenings.
Claire Danes in a drama-bringing scarlet Givenchy? Hands down our favourite of the night, followed closely by Kate Mara (we’ve missed you on House of Cards!) in a complicated J. Mendel gown that somehow all came together rather fabulously. Julianna Margulies, who always makes the best dressed lists, made the cut in a fierce Narciso Rodriguez number. So did Julia Roberts, because Elie Saab Couture, obviously.
Check out the rest of our top 10 best dressed (Oh hey, Amy Poehler! Welcome to BSS, Kiernan Shipka!) – do you agree with our picks? And yes, that is indeed a gratuitous photo of Matt Bomer in a Tom Ford tux. Because we can.

The music and fashion extravaganza that is the Much Music Video Awards descends upon Toronto and takes over the television airwaves this upcoming weekend. The Kendall and Kylie Jenner-hosted show will feature a line-up of presenters that includes the likes of Chloë Moretz, P.K. Subban and Laura Vandervoort, and will be serving up performances by Lorde, Imagine Dragons and more.
As we await the start of what promises to be a star-studded red carpet, we checked in with Much VJ Liz Trinnear - in between rehearsals, no less! – to find out her 5 favourite fashion moments from MMVAs past:
Naya Rivera and Big Sean at MMVAs 2013: “Loved this couple and how they always found a way to complement each other’s look. Last year I told them they were my fave look on the carpet so it’s only fair I choose them! That onesie, though? NAYA ow ow.”
Shae Mitchell at MMVAs 2013: “Her loud printed 2 piece was a perfect mix of sexy and edgy. Fun and flirtatious. Her hair is every girl’s dream and she’s the mayor of babetown.”
Selena Gomez at MMVAs 2011: “White vest/short combo = super cute girl next door. Sexy with a low back and hint of lace. Selena OWNED the stage when she hosted!”
Miley Cyrus at MMVAs 2010: “She owned this all-nude ensemble and had the perfect tussled hair to complement it. She showed some curves and was stylish and simple.”
Shanae Grimes at MMVAs 2012: “Double high slit = so so sexy! The arm piece was to die for and a perfect accent to a show-stopping dress.”
Catch the MMVAs this Sunday, June 15 exclusively on Much and at much.ca. The red carpet coverage begins at 8pm ET and the live show follows at 9pm ET.

Cate Blanchett in Valentino Pre-Fall 2014
The Cannes Film Festival and all the red carpet goodness that we were treated to for 12 glorious days has finally come to an end. Obviously that means a round-up of the best dressed moments, which this year happens to feature Blake Lively three times and Cate Blanchett twice. We would have liked to limit the repetition if not just for the sake of variety, but we have to give credit where it’s due: whether they were sporting Gucci, Valentino or Givenchy, both leading ladies’ looks were all next level.
Rounding out the rest of our top 10 list are Freida Pinto in a lovely coral Oscar de la Renta gown, Rosie Huntington-Whitely in a stunning metallic Gucci Premiere design, Chloë Moretz in ethereal Chanel couture, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor in a dramatic Elie Saab gown, and one of our favourite models, Toni Gaarn in a silver Redemption Choppers look.

Leslie Mann attended the L.A. premiere of her latest movie, ‘The Other Woman’, in a vibrant, eye-catching look this week, and we’re in love. The actress walked the red carpet in a two-toned bandeau top and ball skirt pairing from Monique Lhuillier‘s Spring 2014 runway collection and matching Oscar Tiye sandals.
The ensemble has us wanting for colour in our spring wardrobes. More! Brighter! Now! Off to go shopping. Be right back.

Lupita Nyong’o in Chanel Fall 2014
We usually tune into the MTV Movie Awards for the trailers, the musical performances (Eminem and Rihanna!), and the Best Shirtless Performance award reveals (because, you know). Fashion? Not so much.
But then we heard that the likes of Lupita Nyong’o and Shailene Woodley were going to be walking the red carpet, and we had a feeling we were in for the most noteworthy MTV Movie Awards red carpet to date. And with Chanel, Balmain, Emanuel Ungaro and even some Ulyana Sergeenko Couture served up last night, we’d say we were right.
Our main takeaways from the show? Lupita never fails us, Shailene continues to kill it, and we desperately need an Edie Parker clutch like Rita Ora‘s in our lives, stat. Check out our 5 best dressed from the 2014 MTV Movie Awards – do you agree with our picks?

Shailene Woodley is making her Backseat Stylers debut, and it’s about time. The actress, currently promoting her latest film Divergent, is a rising star in Hollywood and definitely one to watch for her red carpet style. In fact, her look at the Divergent Berlin premiere this week was far and away her best to date in our books.
Shailene donned a gorgeous white gown from Zuhair Murad‘s Pre-Fall 2014 collection for the occasion. With a sexy plunging neckline, futuristic bold shoulders and fierce gold embellishments, this might possibly be our favourite Murad design ever. And did we mention the mini train? We always love a good train.
We’re now officially on Shailene Woodley red carpet watch. Are you loving this look as much as we are?

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s second annual Canadian Screen Awards were held in Toronto last night at The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and broadcast live on the CBC. Hosted by Martin Short, the awards gala recognized excellence in film, television and digital media productions.
Joining the comedy legend on stage as presenters were very familiar faces like Mad Men‘s Jessica Paré, Amazing Race Canada‘s John Montgomery, and Jason Priestley (aka Brandon Walsh, forever). Viggo Mortensen made an appearance as well, presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to filmmaker/screenwriter David Cronenberg. For a complete list of nominees and winners, head on over to The Academy’s site.
But before you do, check out the gallery below for 30 red carpet snaps from last night’s festivities, including best dressed candidates like the stunning Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs in a vampy sheer black number, Pretty Little Liars‘ Shay Mitchell in a chic black and white design with cutouts, and Maria Bello in an ethereal embellished ivory gown. Our country’s biggest screen stars certainly turned it out for the industry’s biggest night of the year.

Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace Spring 2014
Cue shocking confession: we didn’t watch the Oscars red carpet coverage last night, not even a minute. The shock! The horror! We weren’t missing the posse of Ryan Seacrest and company in the slightest, but we weren’t feeling quite like ourselves until we’d fully caught up on all the action via the interweb and had created a 10 best dressed list like we always do. This year, though, we took some liberties: instead of limiting the list to the Academy Awards themselves, we also considered looks from Vanity Fair and Elton John’s respective Oscar parties.
The result? Kate Hudson in a dazzling caped Atelier Versace gown won the sartorial Oscar race in our books, but Diane Kruger in lace Valentino and Karolina Kurkova and Evan Rachel Wood, both stunning in Elie Saab, took home top style honours for the evening. The rest of our list is rather predictable but well deserved: Angelina Jolie in yet another gorgeous Elie Saab, Lupita Nyong’o in powder blue Prada, Anne Hathaway in sleek Gucci, and more.
Check out our complete top 10 best dressed from Oscars night below. Did we miss any of your favourites?

Our newfound style crush on Naomie Harris continues – as does our longstanding obsession with jumpsuits – with this gorgeous getup from the LoveGold event at Chateau Marmont last night honouring Academy Awards nominee Lupita Nyong’o.
Though it doesn’t take much more than a basic black jumpsuit to get us excited, this Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2014 design is particularly up our alley. The delicate lace inserts and peekaboo cutouts make for a romantic yet sexy look. We’re now officially on the hunt for jumpsuit #4, because one can never have enough…or so we’re telling ourselves.
