The polar vortex continues, and though keeping warm and looking chic while doing so is proving to be a challenge for some (us!), not so for Stephanie Sterjovski of the self-titled blog. The Toronto-based blogger donned an uber-chic striped faux fur jacket in last week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook, and we absolutely loved the look.
There aren’t any fur jackets, faux or otherwise, in our closet, so a quick search for a fab piece or two to fill the void was in order. What we found was 15 glorious faux fur options from which to choose, including chubby coats, moto jackets, gilets and more. And did we mention most of them are currently on clearance, rendering them nearly impossible to resist? Happy shopping!
Banana Republic is looking to continue its streak of highly covetable designer collaborations in 2014. Up next? A limited edition capsule created with Finnish design company Marimekko, just in time for summer.
“Marimekko’s unique design of pattern and colour has always inspired me as a designer,” said Banana Republic Vice President of Women’s Design, Melloney Birkett in a press release. “With this summer capsule, we wanted to create a collection that marries Marimekko’s iconic prints with our signature silhouettes. We were inspired by Marimekko founder Armi Ratia’s motto of, ‘Stand out from the rest,’ and we designed a collection of must-have summer standouts.”
Due to hit Banana Republic stores and online in late May, the almost 25-piece collection of dresses, separates and accessories will feature the type of bold and colourful patterns that Marimekko is known for the world over. The offerings will be priced from $50 for a tank top to $175 for a dress, with accessories ranging from $69.50 for a clutch to $98 for a pair of shoes.
Only one look has been released so far, but it’s looking downright cute and delightfully loud. Are you excited for Banana Republic’s next collab?

‘Tis the season for metallics, and Alyssa from The Ordinary Peoples showed us how it’s done with a jaw-dropping gold coat featured in last week’s edition of The Canadian Street Style Lookbook. Tacky? Far from it. Ostentatious? Maybe just a little bit. Ultra-chic? Undeniably so. In fact, it highlighted a glaring hole in our party wardrobe rotation that we obviously needed to address, stat.
From blazers to black-tie gowns and cheap and cheerful Joe Fresh to straight-off-the-runway Dolce & Gabbana, we’ve got all your golden needs covered. Check out the gallery below for our top 20 picks right now, and get your shop (and shine!) on.
So Isabel Marant for H&M has come and gone, and you’re in search of a new high-low collaboration to obsess about and we’ve got the answer: L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic. We cheered when we heard word of the holiday capsule earlier this year, and now we have the complete lookbook, with all 50+ pieces, for your viewing pleasure.
The American designer has created an incredibly chic line-up of party-ready apparel and accessories, and we can’t wait to shop it. Tailored jackets, embellished cardigans, cocktail dresses, clutches, and even pajama sets – L’Wren Scott and Banana Republic have our holiday dressing covered. At the very top of our wish list are the emerald jacquard shift dress (stunning!), the black brocade and magenta peony skinny jeans (obviously we need both pairs in our lives), and the black velvet bow back jacket (because we’ve never met a velvet jacket we didn’t like).
Retailing between $39.50 and $198, the L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic collection will be available in selected stores as well as online starting December 5. Give the gallery below a gander for a look at every single piece of the capsule. Which do you plan to rock this holiday season?

Ever since we laid eyes on Nelia of Style Blog‘s croc-embossed leather skirt, we’ve been fighting the urge to steal it from her. What’s a leather skirt or two between friends? But rather than burglarize her closet, we instead decided to focus our energies on finding a stunning leather skirt all our own…legally.
What we found was 33 gorgeous reasons not to have to deprive Nelia of hers, and we’ve been daydreaming about them ever since. Between Givenchy‘s curved hem leather pencil skirt, Cedric Charlier‘s asymmetrical sheepskin skirt, and Lover‘s lace trim leather skirt, we’re sufficiently distracted enough to leave Nelia and her skirt alone. For now.

Another week, another designer collaboration announcement from Banana Republic. A mere 8 days ago it was a holiday capsule by L’Wren Scott that was revealed, and today it’s a limited edition collection by Issa London, a line favoured by none other than Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
Staying true to both partners’ aesthetics, Banana Republic and Issa have teamed up to create almost 40 pieces of safari-inspired women’s apparel and accessories, including day-to-night dresses in eye-catching animal prints and flattering silhouettes, as well as jewelry, handbags and shoes to match. The highlight of the line-up is a pocketbook-friendly royal blue wrap tie dress that looks an awful lot like the one Duchess Kate donned to announce her engagement.
Priced from $50 for a bangle to $185 for a tote bag, the Banana Republic Issa London collection will be available at select Banana Republic stores as well as online starting August 8, 2013. Check out the gallery below for images from the lookbook. Are you excited to get your hands on some Duchess-approved designs?

Banana Republic is on a designer collaboration kick, and we’re loving it. Fresh off a well-received summer capsule collection by New York-based contemporary label Milly, the retailer has announced its next partnership, with none other than L’Wren Scott. The American designer (and girlfriend of Mick Jagger!) has teamed up with Banana Republic on a holiday collection launching this December.
Known for her uber-chic and ladylike designs, Scott has created a 50-piece line-up of apparel and accessories for women, including tailored jackets, embellished cardigans, printed denim, party dresses, handbags and even berets. Retailing between $39.50 and $198, the designs reflect a combination of Scott’s feminine aesthetic and Banana Republic’s pocketbook-friendly prices.
“L’Wren really understands what a woman loves and wants to wear. Her knack for bringing imaginative versatility and femininity to classic design is something that immediately brought us together as creatives,” said Banana Republic creative director and EVP of design, Simon Kneen. “The designs created for this collection bring a modern approach to pieces you will love forever.”
“The end result,” Scott added, “is a capsule we’re both so proud to call our own. It beautifully combines the ultra-feminine with wearable polish and will bring a sexy confidence to our consumers.”
L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic will be available in selected stores as well as online starting December 5. As big fans of both L’Wren Scott and Banana Republic, our calendars are officially marked!

The countdown is officially on! We are now only 5 days away from the 154th running of the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine Racetrack, and are – what else? – busily putting the finishing touches on our race day ensembles. With fabulous fascinators and chic frocks at the ready, we’re now turning our attention to the Mister and his sartorial needs for the big day, as we’re sure you are too.
So what’s a gent to wear to one of Canada’s biggest sporting and fashion events of the summer? The ball caps and jerseys are staying at home for this one, and in their place we’re suggesting linen blazers and brogues. We’re by no means menswear experts, but we’d happily walk in on the arm of the Mister in any one of these getups below, and that’s what matters most, right?
For a classic look with a modern twist, choose a double-breasted blazer in a light colour palette and summer-friendly fabric. Our pick is Zara‘s linen jacket in grey plaid ($119.99), which we’d style with a slim fit yellow dress shirt by Calvin Klein ($59.50), navy gabardine trousers by Massimo Dutti ($59.90), and a striped woven belt by Zara ($19.99). Let’s not forget the shoes: a timeless pair of ivory loafers by Salvatore Ferragamo (USD$310.99).
For the man who can’t fathom attending a prestigious horse race sans bow tie and pocket square, may we suggest Club Monaco‘s red and white striped, woven bow tie ($69.50) and Banana Republic‘s blue and white striped cotton pocket square ($32)? Their vintage feel pairs perfectly with Zara‘s sharp-looking navy linen blazer with elbow patches ($99.99), a crisp, white slim-fit dress shirt by Calvin Klein ($59.50), and Mark McNairy navy suede and chocolate leather saddle shoes he’ll wear again and again ($398).
For the gent who will settle for nothing less than a full suit, we’re in love with the two-button light blue linen suit from Banana Republic‘s Monogram Collection ($370.99 + $167.99). Top it off with a dapper hat like Zara‘s khaki version with ribbon and button ($9.99), a pastel tie like the Ernest Alexander striped take available at Club Monaco ($78), and Zara‘s leather and canvas oxford shoes ($69.99), and we’ll be swooning. Horse race? What horse race?

We’ve always been big fans of contemporary label Milly and the girly designs founder Michelle Smith churns out season after season, so we were delighted when we heard that she’d teamed up with Banana Republic on an limited edition capsule collection.
Inspired by the Hamptons, the Banana Republic Milly Collection features over 60 pieces of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories in bright colours and bold prints. “It’s a very positive, happy collection and I think the colors and patterns really capture the modern spirit of summer,” said Michelle Smith.
The line-up includes summer-ready frocks, separates, jewelry and other accessories, and is priced from $24.50 to $175. On the top of our wish list? Those fun elephant-print shorts already spotted on Olivia Palermo.
