Admiring from the Backseat: Cannes Film Festival 2012 Edition

Diane Kruger in Chanel Resort 2013

After 12 days of nonstop celebrity red carpet fashions, the 2012 edition of the Cannes Film Festival sadly came to an end yesterday. Because we’re obviously already in withdrawal, we thought we’d relive our favourite sartorial moments with – what else? – a best dressed list.

Leading the pack with a perfect run at Cannes this year was Diane Kruger, who wore three of our most memorable looks. She donned an ethereal mint green Giambattista Valli couture gown on opening night and continued to blow us away throughout the festival. Her Nina Ricci dress at the “Killing Them Softly” premiere was divine, while her Chanel frock at the amFAR Gala was quite possibly our favourite look of hers ever. Her hair, make-up and accessories were impeccable too.

Models Liya Kebede and Natasha Poly looked nothing short of fabulous in a sharp Roberto Cavalli suit and head-to-toe Gucci respectively. Actress Bérénice Bejo was a lovely surprise in a printed Giambattista Valli dress with Olympia Le-Tan book clutch in hand, while Paz Vega looked fierce in a feathered Stephane Rolland couture creation.

Vogue Nippon Editor-at-Large Anna Dello Russo stunned in white Alberta Ferretti, Chinese actress Yao Xingtong looked gorgeous in blue Elie Saab couture, and Kirsten Dunst was picture perfect in a to-die-for Dolce & Gabbana dress and Charlotte Olympia shoe pairing.

There you have it – our 10 best dressed at the 65th Festival de Cannes. Who made your list?

Alberta Ferretti for Impulse at Macy’s – Complete Lookbook!

Macy’s released the complete lookbook for its latest collaboration, with Italian designer Alberta Ferretti, today. From floor-length dresses in punchy colours to lightweight, airy knits, the summery line-up of dresses and separates will retail between $49 and $119.

The 30-piece collection bows in stores and online at macys.com on April 17. All I need is a trip to the Amalfi Coast, which inspired Ferretti’s designs, to go with the maxi dress I’m eyeing. That’s not asking a lot now, is it?

Announced: Alberta Ferretti for Impulse at Macy’s, Zac Posen for Lord & Taylor

Zac Posen styling his last collaboration, with Target

This week has been chock full of collaboration news: sneak peeks of Marni for H&M, the launch of Jason Wu for Target this upcoming weekend, and now announcements of Zac Posen for Lord & Taylor and Alberta Ferretti for Impulse at Macy’s.

Posen, whose designs have been all over the red carpets this awards season, has partnered with Lord & Taylor on a capsule collection of twelve dresses for Spring. The line will be priced, rather reasonably, from $149 to $199.

Italian designer Ferretti has designed a 30-piece collection for Impulse at Macy’s, inspired by the Amalfi Coast. The line-up of feminine dresses and separates will retail between $49 and $119.

Both collaborations hit stores in April. Which one are you most looking forward to?

Alberta Ferretti RTW Spring 2011

My love affair with Alberta Ferretti continues…though it’s rather one-sided and from afar. Her latest collection is soft and feminine and makes me want to abandon the edgier looks I’ve been sporting lately in favour of dressing like a lady again. I’m in need of some romance in my closet, in the form of delicate embroidery, beautifully-draped fabrics and muted earth tones. I think I’ve found my uniform for Spring 2011.

Just plain beautiful. If I was attending the Oscars, Alberta Ferretti is where I’d turn.

Admiring from the Backseat: Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett is the coolest kid on the Hollywood block and this photo proves it. The combination of the hair and the red Alberta Ferretti beaded shoulder dress is edgy and chic, and pulled off so effortlessly. I hope Rihanna’s taking notes.
