Tea with André

Was distracted from the disappointment (serious understatement) of not being in NYC at the semi-annual Manolo Blahnik sample sale by André Leon Talley’s amusing report of the sale. Imagining the fun of rubbing shoulders with Mr. Talley at the Manolo sale has me daydreaming, and I can’t decide which I would choose if presented with the following options:

(1) Afternoon tea with Mr. Talley – an opportunity to ask him all sorts of enlightened questions and to charm him into (a) offering me a job at Vogue and (b) becoming lifelong friends.

OR

(2) Personal, unrestricted access to the MB sample sale before anyone else. Hell, it’s my daydream, so I’ll even sweeten the deal with all the free MBs I want.

O M G. What a dilemma this would be if my imaginary world and the real world collided. The more I think about it, the more certain I am that I would pick a spot of tea with André over free shoes. Besides, when I started my job at Vogue, André would most certainly introduce me to his good friend Manolo Blahnik (who would then become my good friend too) and make sure that I had unlimited access to the magazine’s Closet. It’s settled then – tea with André. Now all I have to do is send him an invitation.

xx, S

Hahaha! This reminds me of when Derek and I decided to write André last year imploring him to send us tickets to go to Fashion Week. I wrote the letter because Derek didn't know what to say…I only remember saying that he should feel sorry for us because we lived in Hamilton. Hahahaha
