Any gal who’s scoured the earth for a frock for a birthday, wedding or New Year’s Eve knows that a good cocktail dress is hard to come by. Here’s a tip from my many years of shopaholism: if you encounter a dress that’s pretty and flatters you, grab on to it and don’t let go until it’s safely in your closet, whether or not there’s an occasion for it in the foreseeable future.
