Holiday 2012 is shaping up to be more dangerous for the pocketbook than all holiday seasons before it.
On the heels of an announcement just last week by Target and Neiman Marcus of an exclusive holiday collection created by 24 CFDA designers, WWD reports today that eBay has also partnered with 7 designers on the eBay Holiday Collective. Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Fallon, Jonathan Adler, Ruffian, Steven Alan and Tibi have each created at least 5 gift items for the 40+ piece collection of limited-edition men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, travel and electronics accessories and home decor.
“The eBay Holiday Collective marks another milestone for eBay in the fashion category,” said Jeff Somers, the general manager of eBay Fashion. “Similar to the recently announced Neiman’s and Target and Nordstrom and Topshop collaborations, our partnerships are another sign of the retail revolution under way. As consumers seek seamless, multichannel, anytime-anywhere shopping, creative collaborations point to the future of commerce. Our focus is on enabling commerce, and we’re achieving that by serving as a partner to retailers of all sizes.”
The collection will be available starting November 12 through eBay’s Fashion Vault, so mark your calendars. In the meantime, I can’t wait to find out more specifics on the gift items, especially the pieces by Dana Lorenz of Fallon. “It has always been my goal that Fallon be an attainable collection for the fashion conscious,” said Lorenz. As a huge fan of Fallon jewelry, this is all sounding mighty good to me.
